- Prep Time: 1 hour and 10 minutes
- Cook Time: 30 minutes
- Total Time: 1 hour and 40 minutes
- Servings: 24 pops
Gather all of the ingredients.
Bake cake according to the directions on the back of the box. The cake I chose needed eggs, oil, and water.
Pour batter into a greased cake pan.
Bake according to chart on cake box.
Let cake thoroughly cool.
#SpoonTip: Place the cake in the refrigerator to speed up the cooling process.
Once cake is cool, add frosting and mix cake using a fork or clean hands.
Create balls of cake and freeze for 30 minutes.
#SpoonTip: Place plastic wrap or parchment paper on the baking sheet so that the balls do not stick to the pan.
Melt a small amount of candy coating according to directions on bag and place a dollop on spoon.
Place frozen cake ball on dollop of candy coating on spoon and freeze again for 10 minutes.
Melt the rest of the candy coating and dip the spoon into the coating until the cake is completely coated.
#SpoonTip: Pick a candy coating that goes with the occasion. I chose red because UNM’s colors are cherry and silver.
Decorate spoon pops however you would like.
#SpoonTip: If using sprinkles, make sure to place them on the candy coating while it’s still wet so that the sprinkles will stick.
