Non-alcoholic beverages are all the rage recently, which means that the current market for booze-free beverages is diverse, fresh, and doesn’t skimp on the flavor.

Up until recently, a fancy soda, a non-alcoholic beer, or a watered-down “mocktail” was about as close to an alcoholic beverage (sans the actual alcohol) as you could order at a bar. Now, there’s a variety of non-alcoholic options that can pick-you-up mid-work day or fancify your night out, from the more prominent sparkling seltzers and kombuchas to “euphoric” sips and booze-less spirits. The goal of this trend — whether it’s referred to as zero-proof, spirit-less, non-alcoholic, soft drink, or 0% ABV — is simple: to create drinks that mimic qualities of alcoholic beverages, with no alcohol content.

Whether you’re, underage and hanging out with your 21+ friends at restaurants, in recovery, sober-curious, or trying to avoid alcohol and its negative health effects (read: hangover), this round-up of the best 26 zero-proof brands have all of the refreshing flavor and party fun with none of the alcohol.

What is a Non-Alcoholic Drink?

Just like regular alcohol, the exact process and flavors will vary, but many non-alcoholic drinks get their unique, alcohol-esque flavor thanks to herbal extracts, spices, roots, barks, and juices. Some are distilled like typical booze (but the alcohol is removed) and some are fermented, such as kombucha (which does have trace amounts of alcohol given that it is fermented in a similar process as beer, but not enough to be considered an alcoholic beverage).

Some non-alcoholic beverages are made with adaptogens and CBD, and, like alcohol, they’re intended to alter your mood a bit. But instead of tipsy, these drinks are designed to make you feel energized or relaxed. (If they actually do is a separate question.)

Wait...are they just mixers?

No, but they can be! Many of these beverages are inspired by existing wines, spirits, beers, and more. Depending on your choice, you can drink them neat, mixed into mocktails, or straight from the can. As with standard alcohol, the options are entirely up to you.

Before you start sipping, it’s important to note that while these drinks don’t contain alcohol, some of these booze-less bevs may come with health disclaimers for anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, taking certain medications, or has a medical condition due to the presence of adaptogens, hemp, and other botanicals in these beverages. If any of these apply to you, check the label and double-check with your doctor before consuming.
