The Best Soup & Sandwich Pairings For Cozy Season

The leaves are changing and the air is getting crisp, which can only mean one thing — fall is here. Before you start tearing up about having to put your sundresses away and storing the sunblock back in your cabinet, think about warming yourself up on this crisp fall day with a warm bowl of soup with a delicious sandwich on the side. There really is nothing better than the soup and salad combination, and who else is sick of the classic tomato soup and grilled cheese combo? Here are five of the best soup and sandwich pairings you need to try this fall.

Clam Chowder & Blackened Fish Sandwich

If you are a New Englander like I am, then you know that there is simply nothing in the world better than a bowl of creamy clam chowder. I would consider myself an expert in all things clam chowder, so I know for a fact that it’s best to stick with the fish theme when finding a sandwich to pair this delicacy with. Although there are an endless number of fish sandwich options available, I think that a blackened fish sandwich is your best bet because it is versatile and crispy. If you are into spicy, adding spicy seasoning to your blackened fish is a perfect balance with a creamy clam chowder.

French Onion Soup & Roast Beef Sandwich

French onion soup is a bowl full of deliciousness. The base of caramelized onion is what makes this soup addictive; it’s hard to just pick up the bowl and gulp down every last bite. The salty and onion-y taste topped off with Gruyere cheese is to die for, and pairing this with a roast beef sandwich is perfection. My personal favorite is something with mayo, cheese (to complement the soup even more), and tomatoes.

Chicken Noodle Soup & BLT

We all know chicken noodle soup is a classic for when we aren’t feeling well, and BLTs are a go-to for anyone who is craving a simple but oh-so-good sandwich. So, why not combine the two? Hey, there’s nothing wrong with going for the basics; you are guaranteed to be satisfied. I love my BLTs with some aioli mayo smothered on both sides.

Want to spice up your basic chicken noodle soup? Try adding herbs like thyme and basil or, for my fellow cheese lovers out there, sprinkle some pepper jack cheese right on top.

Lentil Soup & Chicken Salad Sandwich

When you are craving a hearty fall dinner that can warm you up and fill you up, what do you eat? How about a lentil soup and a chicken salad sandwich? It’s a flavorful meal that will leave you and your stomach feeling amazing. Whether you opt for regular lentil soup or one with more zest by adding lemon, your stomach will be happily full.

Gazpacho & Caprese Panini

The combination of gazpacho and a caprese panini offers a delightful balance of flavors, fresh and seasonal ingredients, temperatures, and textures. It’s a great choice for a light yet satisfying meal, particularly during the fall when you want something refreshing and delicious.
