The school year is coming to an end. Our mandatory obligations to our education will be put on pause, which means summer travel plans are in the air!

Traveling and preparing to travel can be stressful. Airports are crowded, security lines are long and finding an open outlet and working wifi is scarce. It is important to prepare yourself as much as possible to ease your traveling fears, and what better way to do that than through having comfort snacks packed with you.

Here is a list of the essential foods you need to pack with you on your next plane flight that you can find at these locations.

Safeway

Fruit Snacks

pepper, tomato, vegetable
Kevin Rodriguez

Perfect travel sizes to pack with you in your carry-on to satisfy your sweet cravings

Pretzels

pastry, doughnut, candy, sweet, pretzel
Allie Koestler

You have to stay salty in the dry airplane air.

Goldfish

peanut, sweet, butter, peanut butter
Kimberly Fu

You will for sure want to take the snack that smiles back at you. Also, Goldfish have different flavors and come in small snack packs that make it easy to pack and go to the airport and take around with you on your vacation.

Trader Joe’s

Powerberries

cereal, berry, herb, pepper
Kaitlin Owyang

Fuel yourself with Powerberries to give you the strength and power to survive through the dreaded airport security lines. It will feel like you are treating yourself to a guilty pleasure, but it’s a win-win situation when you get to eat chocolate-covered berries. Powerberries are packed with vitamin C and antioxidants.

Thai Lime & Chili Cashews

peanut butter, chocolate, peanut
Kaitlin Owyang

This is literally the Thai plate, tom yum soup, a tangy roast and citrus flavor all rolled up in the form of nuts. Thai Lime and Chili Cashews will definitely bring a little spice to your travel plans and taste better than the airplane’s complimentary nuts.

Roasted Plantain Chips

chips
Kaitlin Owyang

A sweet and crunchy snack that is lightly salted--these are basically made for you to pack in your luggage. This is a healthier alternative to taking a bag of chips because it contains half the fat of regular potato chips.

Honey Butter Chips

potato, candy, sweet, chips
Kaitlin Owyang

Honey Butter Chips may sound like it’s a weird combination to make into a chip, but you will become addicted to these. These chips are a scarce commodity and constantly sold out at my local Trader Joe’s.

Target

Kind Bars

chocolate, candy
Emma Delaney

Be kind to your stomach and pack these nutritious bars with you in your carry-on.

Boom Chicka Popcorn

chips, chocolate, potato
Shannon Carney

Boom Chicka Pop, why not? This is a delicious snack to pack with you on the plane because it’s like carrying chips without having the noisy crunchy sound of eating chips. Did I mention that it's delicious?

Instant Oatmeal

rice, oatmeal cereal, granola, muesli, oatmeal, sweet, milk, cereal, porridge
Christin Urso

Well, for starters, this is an instant food so it will be easy to make and friendly to all college students. Simply add water and stir the oatmeal, and you will be able to consume your daily dose of oats. Plus, there are different flavors of instant oatmeals.

Gas Stations

If you need to make a pit stop on the way to the airport and can only stop off at a gas station, here's what you would want.

Beef Jerky

vegetable
Megan Yee

It’s always a pro to have some protein in your diet to keep up your gains. It’s a delicious snack to curb your hunger and comes in different flavors. Keep in mind you can’t pack this snack if you are flying overseas.

Mints or Minty Gum

chocolate, candy, cake, sweet
Matthew Wenger

With long flights especially, your personal hygiene isn’t always up to par. Make sure you don’t have stinky breath by packing mints or minty chewing gum. Also, chewing gum is an old trick to help with plugged ears.

Candy Bar

cake, candy, chocolate
Alex Frank

Choose your favorite candy bar, like a Snickers, because you aren’t you when you’re hungry.

When you are out traveling the world and carrying out your summer plans, you won’t want to forget to include these on your packing list. You will thank yourself on the plane when you remember you don't have to rely on peanuts for sustenance.
