We’ve made our way into the chillier months, and now since it’s almost December, not just any ol’ holiday dessert recipe will do. You need something new, something fresh — and we’ve got just the thing. We were clueless about the goodness of cookie butter before some friends introduced it to us, and there’s no going back now.
In case you haven’t heard of it, cookie butter is a downright heavenly spread, made from pulverized spice cookies, flour, fat, and tons of sugar. It’s jarred, too, just like our friends peanut butter and Nutella. How convenient. It has hit U.S. shelves and risen in popularity over the past few years, and for good reason.
Once these doughnuts are out of the oven and covered in a heavenly sweet glaze, you’ll never think twice about giving that popular thing from Trader Joe’s a try. A pastry with cookie AND doughnut flavors galore? Yes, please.
Cookie Butter Doughnuts

Gather your ingredients and preheat your oven to 435°F. Grease two doughnut pans (you can use non-stick sprays, butter, shortening, or oil).
In a mixer with the paddle (or using hand mixer), combine 1/4 cup cookie butter, oil, cookie butter and sugars until smooth.
Add the eggs in and mix until smooth, and be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Add the baking powder, nutmeg, baking soda, vanilla and salt and mix until smooth. On a low speed, alternate between adding flour and 1 cup half and half, finishing with the flour.
Spoon the batter into the doughnut pans, but don’t fill them all the way. Fill them slightly under the line. Bake for 10 minutes.
Time to prepare the glaze! While the doughnuts are baking, whisk 1/2 cup half and half into 1 cup cookie butter.
Remove doughnuts from the oven, wait 5 minutes and then turn them onto a cooking rack. You can either drizzle the glaze over them or dip half of each doughnut into it.
