Peach Berry Sangria is This Season's Favorite Drink

If you're like me, and do not have the time or money to jump on a plane and go to Spain for some traditional sangria, I've got you covered with this twist on sangria. Summer (and those early fall days) is the perfect time for refreshing drinks and sangria is one of the best. As the saying goes, old things can always be made new, and this is no exception. Fresh strawberries and peaches make this easy peach berry sangria recipe the perfect drink for the pool, the porch, or the table.

Step 1

Cut the tops of the 15 strawberries off and slice the 2 peaches. These will be used to make the syrup.

Step 2

Pour the water into a pot on the stove, on high heat, and dissolve the sugar into the water. Then add the strawberries and peaches once the sugar has fully dissolved.

Step 3

Bring the syrup to a boil and bring the heat down to medium. Time for 15 minutes. The strawberries should be pale and the peaches should be soft when complete.

Step 4

Strain the syrup and refrigerate for 2 hours or until cool. Throw away the boiled fruit.

Step 5

Now for the fun part! In a pitcher or punch bowl, combine the syrup from the fridge, the rum, white wine (I have always used Barefoot Moscato, it's cheap and tasty), plus the 2 sliced peaches and 10 sliced strawberries. You can add the champagne to the pitcher or to each glass as you pour.

Step 6

Now pour into glasses, add ice, and enjoy!
