With classes ending and finals fast approaching, summer is on the horizon. What could possibly get you more excited for summer days than sitting on a patio in the sun and drinking a refreshing alcoholic beverage? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
It’s almost time to cool off with an iced cold drink (a boozy one, of course) and with that being said, here are seven refreshing cocktails to get you excited for the sun and summer.
1. Sangria
Sangria will definitely get you through the summer. It’s the best of both worlds. Whether you have it with white wine or with red wine, it’s sure to hit the spot. This drink will definitely satisfy that never ending desire for a glass of wine when 5 o’clock rolls around.
2. Bellini
What’s better than transforming your favorite fruit into a classy cocktail? If there’s one fruit to get you in the mood for summer, it’s peaches. Most commonly made with prosecco (just a fancy named for sparkling wine) and schnapps, this drink is fruity and delightful.
3. Mexican Bulldog
When you think of a cold drink in your hand, you probably think of a beer or a margarita. If that’s the case, then you’ll love this combination of an ice cold beer bottle tipped upside down into a fishbowl full of slushy margarita goodness. With an added bonus of being two drinks in one, what more could a university student ask for?
4. Long Island Iced Tea
Think of every type of hard liquor you can. Now think about all of them combined and you’ve got yourself Long Island Iced Tea. Most commonly made with vodka, tequila, rum, triple sec and gin, one glass of this delicious mixture and you’ll be good to go. This drink is perfect if you’re sick of your same old vodka cranberry.
5. Mojito
This classic summertime cocktail is minty yet refreshing. With a splash of rum, club soda, lime and (of course) mint, this drink will have you calling over the waiter for another round in no time.
6. Homemade Radler
If you’re looking to quench your thirst with something different this summer, try making your own radler. Simply choose your favorite light beer and mix it with lemonade or soda (or try a half and half ratio) and you’ll be good to go.
7. Mimosa
Here’s a drink to start off a day full of drinking, such as Canada Day or May long weekend. Mix up a simple mimosa with the juice of your choice and a little bubbly. There’s no better way to ease yourself into day drinking than starting the day off right with this refreshing drink.
