I love breakfast items, like maple syrup and bacon, and I love ice cream, so when I put them together I can almost justify eating it for breakfast. Basically, I stepped up my ice cream game and made sweet and salty maple bacon ice cream.
It was surprisingly easy and no ice cream maker was needed! The end result was maple syrupy goodness with a bacon crunch.
Of course, after I had made the ice cream, I had the idea that next time I’ll add another special ingredient…booze. If I’m feeling ambitious, next time I’ll add a splash of bourbon or whiskey for 21+ ice cream crowd.
No-Churn Maple Bacon Ice Cream
Ingredients
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 °F.
Lightly coat the bacon in brown sugar and place on a sheet tray. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the sugar is caramelized.
While the bacon is in the oven, create the ice cream base.
Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form (about 3 minutes). #SpoonTip: Use a handheld or stand mixer for quicker results.
Fold in the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and maple syrup until combined.
Crumble bacon into cream mixture and save one bacon strip for garnish.
Pour into loaf pan or bowl, cover and freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight.
Scoop heaping spoonfuls of ice cream into a bowl, top with sea salt and enjoy!
Once you’ve created the ice cream base, you can really add in whatever flavors and textures you’d like. If you’re looking for other add-ins for this ice cream creation, try sprinkles, pretzel pieces, chocolate chips, cookie pieces or peanut butter. Happy ice cream making!
