Nacho Cheese Doritos are embroiled in scandal. Similar to the Doritos Spicy Sweet Chilli recall of 2016, the Nacho Cheese Doritos were labeled incorrectly, failing to alert consumers to the presence of both soy and wheat in the Nacho Cheese Doritos. Here’s everything you need to know about the current Doritos recall.

What’s getting recalled?

Frito-Lay announced through the FDA a recall of both the Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla 1-ounce bags (with a guaranteed fresh date of Sept. 26, 2023) and Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla 14.5-ounce bags (with a guaranteed fresh date of Sept. 26, 2023).

Why are Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavor being recalled?

There are currently around 7,000 bags of these recalled Nacho Cheese Doritos in circulation. The reason they are being recalled is because they may contain soy and wheat ingredients not declared on the bag’s ingredient list. This puts people with wheat and soy allergies at risk. Frito-Lay explained that “if consumers have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy or wheat, they should not consume the product and discard it immediately.”

If you’re in Pennsylvania, think twice about Nacho Doritos

The contaminated bags were only distributed to Pennsylvania retail stores, restaurants, and vending machines starting June 29, 2023.

Have there been any allergic reactions?

Thankfully, no allergic reactions have been reported, and the only Frito-Lay products that have been affected by the undefeated allergen contamination are the Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla 1-ounce and 14.5-ounce bags. So, no need to throw out your favorite Fritos and Cool Ranch Doritos.
