My favorites are the Farm Ridge Foods’ atomic pickles, and as the name suggests, they’re pretty spicy. I also love fried pickles, with ranch on the side of course. In recent years, pickle lovers have been taking over the food industry. It turns out, pickles can be incorporated into a lot of foods. There’s pickle pizza, pickle beverages, and even pickle ice cream. Not to mention the fact that everyone was walking around in this viral pickle sweatshirt for weeks. And the pickle trends keep on coming! This time, it’s a red, sugary, yet spicy, DIY chamoy pickle kit. I know that sounds really strange and confusing, but TikTok is absolutely obsessed with them right now. There are a lot of parts to this delicacy, so let’s unpack it.
What is chamoy?
Chamoy is a condiment, usually found in Mexico, made with mango, plum, or apricot, as well as chilies, lime, and salt. It’s hard to imagine what it would taste like but just think of a combination of sweet and savory. A lot of the time, people use chamoy as a topping for their fruit, along with Tajín, another spicy topping. It can also be used on candies, which is delicious.
What is a chamoy pickle kit?
Chamoy pickles are the latest TikTok craze with #chamoypickle having 1.4 billion views. It's essentially a pickle that has been topped with chamoy, hence the concerningly bright red color of the pickle. I mean, these things are REALLY red. The kit, however, comes with a variety of things to stuff the pickle with. Yes, this is a red, stuffed pickle. The kits usually come with Takis, Salsaghetti, and Fruit Roll-Ups or some other form of candy. It also includes extra chamoy if you’re feeling a little crazy, as well as a sour-tasting powder.

TikTok user @juliabouvierr chose to hollow out her giant chamoy pickle, so that she could stuff it with as many things as possible. First, she fills it with Takis, and then tops it with Salsaghetti. She adds extra chamoy and sour powder on top and then wraps it all into a Fruit Roll-Ups. In the end, she has a giant, stuffed, and extremely red pickle.
What does a chamoy pickle taste like?
TikTok user @daishaview explains that it tastes like everything that is in it. Meaning that the actual pickle tastes like a pickle, and all the candy tastes like its respective flavor. So basically, it’s a huge combination of sweet, spicy, and pickley. I have to admit, every time I see a chamoy pickle video, I get the urge to pull the plug and buy one, just to finally see what it tastes like for myself.
