Lately I started to make more meals in my apartment and I plan to continue utilizing my ‘average’ cooking skills in the years after graduation. But I know how difficult it can be to make your own meals when you live in a traditional dorm room. So I did the research to find a few recipes that are perfect for when the walk to the dining hall is just not going to happen.
1. Homemade Easy Mac
Are you sick of Easy Mac or Annie’s Mac and Cheese? They’re both great, don’t get me wrong, but I’m here to provide you with a recipe that will change how you make mac and cheese. This cheesy goodness takes less than 10 minutes to make and will inspire you to abandon Annie’s Mac and cheese for a little bit, so I suggest you give it a try!
2. Banana and Peanut Butter Bread
This Banana and Peanut Butter Bread takes about 5 minutes to make and is a great snack in between classes. Why just have bananas and peanut butter, when you can spice it up a bit? #SpoonTip: The link to this recipe also contains other awesome dorm room breakfasts, so check them out!
3. Yogurt and Granola Parfait
Here’s a recipe for a Yogurt and Granola parfait if you’re looking to make a healthy snack in your dorm room this semester. This yummy snack will give you the energy to have a productive day and is perfect after a difficult workout or a long day of classes.
4. Teriyaki Lo Mein
This teriyaki lo mein takes less than five minutes to make, so it’s a perfect meal in between classes of if you’re in a rush! Why order lo mein when you can make it yourself? Not only is it delicious, but it’s fairly filling so it will definitely hold you over until your next meal.
5. Rolo M&M Pretzel Bites
Do you like M&M’s? What about chocolate? How about pretzels? If you answered yes to all three of those questions, you’re in luck! Here is a recipe for Rolo M&M pretzel bites. This tasty treat only takes about 15 minutes to make and only requires three ingredients: rolos, M&M’s, and pretzel snaps. Great combination of sweet and salty and the perfect dorm room snack!
6. Pecan Pie
This pecan pie only takes about 7 minutes to make so you can make this for an afternoon snack after a full day of classes! All you need is: butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, salt, eggs, pecans, and graham crackers. People will be shocked you managed to make such a classy desert in the comfort of your dorm.
