9 Drinking Games For 2 People That Are Seriously Fun To Play

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Furman chapter.

Have you and your BFF ever been hanging out on a weekend with absolutely no major plans, but you feel like getting a little tipsy? Admit it: sipping cocktails and taking shots is way more fun with one of your besties by your side! These drinking games for 2 people will have you enjoying yourself in no time, because who doesn’t love a good drinking game? And who says you can’t have a party with only two people? Some of my favorite evenings have been spent joking around with my BFF over a pitcher of margs. All the best convos happen when tequila is involved.

No matter if you’re a beer drinker, a wine sipper, a spritz maker, or a liquor connoisseur, you and your friend will have a grand time at your next one-on-one hangout session. Let’s stop talking, and let’s get to playing some games! Here are nine of our absolute favorite two-person drinking games just for you and your bestie or S.O. Cheers, y’all!

#SpoonTip: Drinking games are fun, but be responsible. Spoon does not promote binge or underage drinking. Stay safe!

Flip Cup Race

You’ve never played Flip Cup like this before. This couples drinking game from TikTok user @lilyirenee just requires two plastic cups, some silverware, and a shot of choice. Set up your silverware on the table to create your shot “race track” with five distinct gaps for the shot to move.

Set the shot in the middle, then, begin flipping that cup. With each successful flip, you move the shot back in the direction of your opponent and vice versa. Whoever pushes the shot over the final line on the table wins and gets to watch their friend accept their punishment.

Slap Jack & Shots

You can turn any two-person card game into a fun drinking game. My personal fave is Slap Jack. A single player begins the game by holding a deck of cards, flipping up each card one by one. Once a Jack card appears, the first player to slap it gets that pile of cards in their hand. The individual with the most amount of cards at the end of the game wins. The loser then has to take a shot or a sip of their drink.

Other fast two-person card games include Speed and Trash, and trust me, they are both fabulous options, too.

Flip, Sip, or Post

All you need for this game is a coin, an opponent, and shots of your favorite alcohol. Start by deciding who’s going to flip the coin first. The other person must guess what side—heads or tails—the coin landed on. If your friend gets it correct, it’s their turn to flip the coin. If the person guesses incorrectly, you flip the coin again. If they guess correctly this second time, the person must answer any question you have for them.

If they guess incorrectly, you flip the coin a third time. This is the most important flip. If they guess correctly, they take a shot. But if they’re wrong again, you get to pick a social media platform and choose what the loser must post. Whether it is texting their third contact, “I just pooped my pants,” or posting to Instagram Threads saying, “I really enjoy sniffing my own armpits,” this game is bound to get embarrassing. It’s now your turn to guess. I hope your social life isn’t too sabotaged by the end of this game!

Never Have I Ever (For 2 people)

For this game, you just need a drink of your choice and at least one other person. The starting player states something that they’ve never done before. If the other person has done this before, they must take a sip of a drink. I’m sure that this game will spark some interesting conversations, and you’ll for sure get to know each other better.

I recommend starting off with simple things such as, “Never have I ever gone skiing,” and then working your way to the juicy stuff.

Speed Facts

One of my favorite drinking games for 2 people is called “Speed Facts.” I hope you know your opponent well for this game! The idea of this game is to go back and forth with your opponent stating facts about each other that you know. If a fact is incorrect or the person takes more than three seconds to come up with a fact, they get a strike. When a person gets three strikes, they must take a shot. Continue playing until neither of you can think of any more facts.

Movie Drinking Games

Movie and TV show drinking games are the best for when you want to be lazy and watch a movie but get drunk at the same time. There are so many different movie-based drinking games that you can play. Some of my faves include this Elf drinking game, this Halloweentown drinking game, and this epic The Office drinking game.

Caps

For this game, you need a table, a bottle cap, and two big cups of beer. Similar to beer pong, players sit on opposite sides of the table and take turns trying to throw the bottle cap into the cup of beer. If you get the cap into the cup, the other person has to drink their whole cup of beer.

Truth or Dare or Drink

Putting a spin on the normal version of Truth or Dare, one person picks truth or dare. If they pick “truth,” but do not want to answer the question asked, the person must drink. If they pick “dare” and do not want to complete the task, the person must drink. Take turns doing this. The game will get more wild as the night goes on.

Battle Shots

Think you know the game Battleship? Think again. This version will blow your mind (and your handle). Start off by making your own battleship board if you don’t own the game. Draw a 7×7 grid on a piece of paper, and label the columns alphabetically and the rows numerically.

This way each square has a letter-number designation (ex. A1, B4, etc). Put six Xs to act as your “boats” in the boxes. Take turns guessing where your opponent’s “boats” are.

Make sure to keep track of the places you’ve already guessed so you don’t repeat! Take a shot every time your opponent guesses where your “boat” is. The loser is whoever finishes their six shots first. Battle Shots will have you in for a wild night!

Now that you know these games, get the shot glasses out, grab your best pal, and have some fun! But don’t forget to drink responsibly, of course. Have a bigger squad and want to play some drinking games at your pregame? Check out these five pregame drinking games.
