6 Unique Ways to Enjoy Barney Butter Other Than Eating it Straight From the Jar

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at BU chapter.

I used to be a peanut butter freak until one morning after sleeping over at a friend’s house. She didn’t have any peanut butter for my toast, so I tried almond butter and life hasn’t been the same since. With the vast variety of ways to incorporate this heavenly spread into your diet, there’s really nothing almond butter can’t do. To say the least, almond butter has a very special place in my heart.

Although you can’t go wrong with almond butter, no matter the brand or type, I never settle for anything but the best. After searching grocery aisles near and far and taste-testing until I dropped, I have found the cream of the crop: Barney Butter.

Barney Butter is a California-based brand that strives to provide the almond butter crazed population with healthy and delicious products. Barney Butter uses recyclable packaging and organic and fair-trade ingredients when possible. It’s processed in a peanut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and just about any other allergy you can think of-free facility.

Barney Butter comes in six delicious flavors. Any butter tastes great in any recipe, but to give you the most out-of-this-world eating experiencing, I have paired each flavor with a complementary recipe to really accentuate the taste.

1. Chocolate-Covered Almond Butter Truffles

2. Overnight Oats

Wake up on the right side of the bed with these almond butter, strawberry, banana, and chia seed overnight oats. Rather than using plain almond butter, top your jar with a scoop of Barney Butter’s raw + chia flavor. The extra chia seeds will be sure to keep you full until lunchtime.

3. Honey Almond Butter Popcorn

Cozy up by the fire for a movie night with this honey almond butter popcorn. I swapped the crunchy almond butter that the recipe calls for with Barney Butter’s honey + flax flavor to really make the honey pop. Drizzle some melted almond butter on top and grab some napkins ’cause you’ll be licking your fingers all night.

4. Mango Spring Rolls With Almond Butter Sauce

Dip these mango spring rolls in almond butter sauce for a delicious dinner. The spring rolls are stuffed with rice, mango, avocado, red pepper, pickled shallots, and herbs, and the sauce is made with crunchy Barney Butter. They may be a little messy, but the flavor is well worth it.

5. S’mores Cups

Although this recipe does not include almond butter, I thought Barney Butter’s vanilla + espresso flavor would pair perfectly with a s’mores cup. I poured some almond butter into the first layer of the cup and drizzled warm almond butter on top. The vanilla + espresso fuses flawlessly with the marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers to create a mouth-watering treat.

6. Spicy Sweet Potato Soup

This spicy sweet potato soup is the perfect way to warm yourself up on a brisk winter day. The recipe includes smooth Barney Butter, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, spinach, onions, black beans, and a variety of spices. Make it on the weekend and let it keep you toasty throughout the week.

Perhaps after trying all of these recipes, Barney Butter will become the glue that holds your life together. Still haven’t had enough? Check out these five weird but tasty uses for almond butter.

Disclaimer: Barney Butter sent me their product free of charge, but all opinions are my own.
