The recent announcement of the newest 'Bachelor' resonated a lot of emotions within fans of the show. Most, including myself, were shocked to hear that it wasn't Peter Kraus. Instead it was some guy named Arie Luyendyk Jr. who had last appeared on the show 5 years ago. Being the die hard Peter fan I am, I was furious at the producer's decision to do such a thing. I mean no one had ever heard of the guy. However, after I overcame the general shock and shed a tear or two, I knew I had to give Arie a chance and look forward to the upcoming season with an open mind.

Just like any other die hard fan of the 'Bachelor' franchise would, I began stalking all of his social media accounts to get a better idea of who Arie was. I knew he had to be a decent guy if he was the runner-up a few seasons ago. After scrolling through his Instagram and watching YouTube videos, I became a fan. I realized how genuine he was. I grew to respect his decision of waiting to make his appearance on the show instead of diving right into it after a televised heartbreak. He's not Peter, but I think more people should give him a chance. I compiled a list of why Arie is actually the perfect pick for this upcoming season of "The Bachelor."

1. He's a true foodie.

I don't know about you, but I love a man who can take aesthetically pleasing food pics and Arie has checked that box. Not only does know how to capture a good plate of food, but he enjoys a well-balanced breakfast. We have high hopes for some epic food moments this season.

2. He competed in the Indy 500.

Not only does he know how to brunch, but he is also athletic. Well, if you consider race car driving a sport. If you are like me and don't, just let this picture do the convincing.

3. He's Dutch.

This new heartthrob was born in the Netherlands. Can you say apple pie?

4. He's an X Games medalist.

I know what you're thinking. What even is the X Games? Well, my guess is as good as yours. All I know is he looks good in that uniform.

5. He's a real-estate agent.

Do you binge watch Property Brothers more than you care to admit? If you do, you will love Arie. He's basically The Bachelor's own Drew Scott. Plus, I don't think the Scott brothers have open houses with giant plates of food that are quite like this.

6. He's well-traveled.

This guy has literally been everywhere. From Thailand to Puerto Rico, he claims he's in a new city every week. He seems to understand that foodies need to travel

7. He gives back.

If this picture does not pull at your heartstrings, then I don't know what will. Arie teamed up with the creator of a jewelry company to create a necklace to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. He presented some of that money to the Phoenix Children's Hospital, where he got a wing named after him.

After five years, Arie is finally getting his chance at finding love. Instead of criticizing him, cheer him on. He's done a lot and deserves way more than just a rose.
