The 2 Ingredient “Ice Cream” That Will Change Your Dessert Game

Looking to improve your dessert game? Then this versatile and healthy banana ice cream is a must-try. When I crave a sweet treat but have few ingredients around, this banana ice cream is the perfect healthy and satisfying solution.

This “nice cream” can be made for all flavor preferences and dietary restrictions, including gluten-free, nut-free, and vegan. I love to experiment with all the mouth-watering combinations that can be made from this simple, 2 ingredient base.

    Pulse frozen banana pieces in food processor or blender until they begin to break up.

    Pro tip: peel and cut your overripe bananas (the browner the sweeter) and put them in a ziplock bag and into the freezer so they are ready to use.

    Add 1 tbsp of milk or milk alternative to bananas and blend until creamy. If necessary, add more milk, just a splash at time, until desired thickness is achieved. Scrape down sides with rubber spatula as necessary.

    At this point add any extracts or extra frozen fruit and blend until just combined. Finish with your favorite toppings like nuts, candies or fresh fruit and enjoy!

While flavorful and satisfying as is, here are some of my favorite ways to change up the banana “ice cream”. Using traditional ice cream flavors as inspiration, here are just a few of the dreamy flavor combinations you can create. 

Mint chocolate chip blend in peppermint extract + mix in chocolate chips 

Almond joy: blend in almond extract + mix in shredded coconut, chocolate chips and chopped almonds 

Strawberry: blend in frozen strawberries + top with fresh strawberries

Peanut butter chocolate chip: blend in peanut butter (I love to use peanut butter powder!) + mix in chocolate chips

Birthday cake: blend in cake batter extract + mix in rainbow sprinkles
