Everyone loves Thanksgiving but let’s be honest, turkey is no one’s favorite dish at the Thanksgiving table. The Thanksgiving table is always filled with loads of options to choose from. My table normally consists of various vegetables, sauces, potatoes, and so much more. I wait all year to enjoy some of my favorite foods at Thanksgiving. I am going to rank my favorite Thanksgiving sides at the table.
9. Bread Rolls
Don’t get me wrong I love bread, but I can have bread at every meal if I want to. I definitely put a roll on my plate, but I don’t crave these rolls leading up to Thanksgiving. Bread just isn’t that special!
8. Green Beans
Green beans are definitely a classic Thanksgiving dish. I do enjoy green beans, but they are not the first thing I go for at the table. They are one of the few healthier dishes at the table, so I make sure to take some. But, green beans only take up a small section on my large plate.
7.Creamed Spinach
Creamed Spinach is a great side to pair with turkey and is great on its own too. The mixture of cheese and spinach makes for a delicious side dish, but it is also not unique to Thanksgiving, so I can’t rank it too high.
6. Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are creamy and yummy. They also pair great with vegetables and turkey. But, it is something that I can have anytime of year, so they are not that special for Thanksgiving.
5. Brussel Sprouts
Brussel Sprouts are a great addition to a Thanksgiving spread. They are great to create balance on your plate. These are one the few healthy Thanksgiving sides, so take advantage and make yourself feel healthy!
4. Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry sauce is a great addition to the turkey that is always dry. Canned or homemade, cranberry sauce is delicious. It is a necessary side on plate, otherwise I won’t eat my turkey!
3. Stuffing
Stuffing is something that I only have on Thanksgiving, which makes it so special. The bread, seasonings, and onions make for a tasty side. It is needed for a good Thanksgiving plate, but it is not something I need on any other day of the year.
2. Pumpkin Bread
Pumpkin bread, in my opinion, is part of the meal and not part of dessert. It gives a sweetness to the many salty and buttery dishes that fill the table. The texture pairs well with just about every other side at the meal.
1. Sweet Potato Pie
Sweet Potato Pie is my favorite dish because the toasty marshmallows pair perfectly with the mashed sweet potatoes. This pairing is the best part of my plate and I can never stop myself from going up for seconds!
Thanksgiving sides are the heart of the holiday. I crave these foods for months leading up to the day! They are filled with Fall and sweet and salty vibes. Even though I do have favorite dishes, all the sides at Thanksgiving are delicious! Besides the food, Thanksgiving is a great holiday that is filled with food, family, and happiness!
