TeaOne is Not the One for Me

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UCD chapter.

I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about how “Davis doesn’t need another boba place” and “boba is overhyped”…and when it comes to TeaOne, I would have to agree.

TeaOne is a popular boba place from the Bay Area with aesthetically pleasing bottled drinks and unique flavors. With three stores in Berkeley and one in San Francisco, it has established itself as a very popular boba place, so it was only a matter of time before we got one in (sw)Aggie Nation.

I’m always down to try a new boba place, so my squad and I decided to go to the soft opening. Here’s what we got and what we thought.

Watermelon Green Tea

This really sucked. It had no sweetness or flavor, and it was not refreshing like I expected it to be. Most boring drink ever.

The second drink I tried was the Stardust bottle, which is really just aesthetically pleasing, but that’s it. It was an exceptionally sweet but then sometimes too sour lemonade. Don’t get me wrong, I like lemonade, but this was too weird even for me.

Jade Mojitea

The Jade Mojitea sounds like it’d be a good idea, but it’s not. It was actually pretty bitter and incredibly hard to down.

There was a promotion for the soft opening where if you buy one drink, you’ll get to try the Jade Green Milk Tea for free. By far the only redeeming drink. It actually had flavor and low-key tasted like vanilla.

TeaOne, I have not given up complete hope just yet. I still need to try your Oreo Milk Tea and Taro Milk Tea before I determine my verdict. But, I would definitely stray away from the fruit green teas and look into the milk teas, which show some promise.

u wonder why they call me OG? it's because of my initials LOL
