Saying “Yes, Chef!” as a response to everything will be coming back sooner than you think now that the release date of FX’s The Bear season 3 has been moved up. Back in May, when the initial release of the next season was announced, we learned that we would be getting it in its entirety at midnight on June 27. However, FX just announced that all episodes of the comedy-drama’s new season will be released on June 26 at 9 p.m. EST. That’s means that instead of blocking that Thursday off to binge The Bear, you can stream all episodes Wednesday night.
The first teaser of the new season dropped last month. Jeremy Allen White — who plays Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto — posted the clip on his Instagram with the simple caption of “6.27.” In the teaser, White is back in the kitchen, alone in the middle of the night looking somber in his pristine white chef’s coat. He gazes into the camera as it zooms out of the restaurant and to the Chicago skyline.
In the restaurant, though, 3:10 is displayed on the clock/timer behind him, which could be an Easter egg of there being 10 episodes in the third season. The second season also had 10 episodes, all named after food like “Pasta,” “Bolognese,” and “Omelette.” White being back in the kitchen is a stark contrast to how season 2 ended.
How did ‘The Bear’ Season 2 end?
With Carmy in the freezer. Well, not really, he was trapped in the freezer and missed his restaurant’s, The Bear, opening night. But after his girlfriend Claire (Molly Gordon) heard him confess during his meltdown that he’d prefer to suffer for his passion than be happy in a relationship, he stayed in the cold.
It was an emotional season finale with the central theme of self-discovery. Throughout the second season, Carmy and his team went through multiple challenges to open a new restaurant just 12 weeks after his family’s sandwich shop, the Original Beef of Chicagoland, shut down. Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) takes on the role of chef de cuisine. Cousin Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) had an amazing character arc appreciating fine dining as well as finding a purpose in the team while belting Taylor Swift. Marcus (Lionel Boyce) lived his baker’s dream studying desserts in Copenhagen with Luca (Will Poulter). Finally, Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas) went to culinary school. All their storylines intertwined perfectly at the end creating a great team with a successful opening night.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, FX stated the new season will follow Carmy, Sydney, and Richie as the trio works to elevate The Bear while fighting to stay in business. With the third season almost here, there are a lot of questions. Will Carmy ever work on himself, maybe go to therapy? Would this season finally bring a Marcus and Sydney romance? Will we get another star-studded family reunion? Would there be more Taylor Swift songs a la Cousin Richie? And most importantly, will Will Poulter come back?
