Is Butterfield Market The Erewhon Of New York City?

Erewhon is the latest organic grocery store and cafe to take the world by storm. With over ten locations in Los Angeles County, their high-end organic foods have captured people’s hearts and hungry stomachs. The upscale grocery store sparked attention for partnerships with a variety of celebrity figures like Olivia Rodrigo and Sofia Richie, in addition to their luxury pricing. However, as gourmet and upscale grocery stores continue to spread across the country, is it possible that Erewhon may have met its match? Butterfield Market, located in the Upper East Side of New York City, has been deemed “The Erewhon of New York City” by social media.

Does Butterfield Market actually have an Erewhon smoothie dupe?

Erewhon i️s mostly known for its celebrity smoothie collaborations. At a selling price of $18, the cafe launched Hailey Bieber’s Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie in 2022, infused with unique ingredients like collagen and sea moss. Bieber’s best friend is the latest celebrity to collaborate with the chain to release Kendall Jenner’s Peaches and Cream Smoothie, which will be sold at locations for a limited time through June 14. Priced at $23, the smoothie promises customers a gut-friendly treat that includes grandeur ingredients like aloe vera juice and lucuma fruit. The lavish menu also features notable items like pressed juices that sell at $10 per bottle, Sea Moss Gel that is priced at $40 per jar, a Spicy Sushi Sandwich sold for $21, and a Strawberry Probiotic Smoothie that is $22.

Although Butterfield Market does offer select smoothie options for their customers, these products are on a much simpler scale compared to Erewhon. While they don’t feature any collabs with celebrities, they partner with brands like Forager, Koia, and Sweet Nothings that pack a punch of organic fruit and antibiotics in their products.

Their flavors range from Strawberry Banana to Magic Mango and Strawberry. Butterfield also offers a unique frozen spoonable smoothie from the brand Sweet Nothings, for anyone looking for a dairy-free option.

What other items does Butterfield Market sell?

With a variety of unique produce, fresh baked goods, a frozen yogurt bar, and much more, this family-owned business brings shoppers their own taste of LA on the East Coast.

Though still on the pricier side, customers continue to rave about Butterfield’s products. A fan favorite is their homemade Pop Tarts, selling for $9.49 each, these in-house baked goods come in an assortment of flavors including Cookies and Cream, Funfetti, Strawberry, and Mixed Berry.

Customers can also buy products from the Italian-inspired ice cream shop, Caffe Panna. Pints of the beloved ice cream sell in-store for $16 each and come in some of the most famous flavors including Fruity Pebbles Oreo, Vanilla Fudge, Red Flag, and more.

The market also prepares fresh paninis and bagel sandwiches served in savory combinations to satisfy the cravings of hungry New Yorkers daily. One of them is Sturgeon and Smoked Salmon cream cheese selling for $22, or the staple bagel with butter and jelly priced at $5.

A highlight for shoppers has also been Butterfield Market’s frozen yogurt. This soft-serve treat comes in different flavors including chocolate, peanut butter, coffee and plain partnered with a variety of fixings to top it off.
