Yup, Mustard-Flavored Skittles Are Now A Thing

I can promise you that you didn’t have this on your 2023 bingo card. Two food brands you never saw collabing together are collabing together. Skittles and French’s mustard — yeah, you read that right. Did you ever think you would be going to the store to buy mustard Skittles for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up? Well, it’s 2023, and flavors are just getting weirder by the minute.

Why is Skittles releasing a mustard flavor?

Fans of both Skittles and mustard should be excited, this new flavor might change your world. “From Mustard Ice Cream to last year’s viral Mustard Donuts, this year marks the fifth time French’s has gone all out with unique, flavorful innovations to celebrate National Mustard Day. With the yellow holiday landing on August 5th, we knew we had to outdo ourselves,” Valda Coryat, North America Vice President of Marketing for McCormick & Company, said in the press release. Although you might not have ever wished for mustard Skittles to come true, this unconventional treat is soon to be the best way to celebrate this National holiday — one you thought would never be so important.

What do the mustard Skittles taste like?

In a press release, this new Skittles flavor is described as having a “tangy flavor” and an “iconic chewy texture.” Apparently, they taste great, and unexpectedly, might become your latest obsession.

Where can I buy the mustard Skittles?

So, you might be wondering how you can get these Skittles. Well, unfortunately, they won’t be sold in stores like normal Skittles, but they will be available via online sweepstakes and at pop-up events around the country. French’s Mustard Mobile, a bright yellow, vintage bus with a giant mustard Skittle on top, will be touring up the East Coast starting as early as July 31, making stops in Atlanta, Washington D.C., and New York City. If you’re located by any of these cities, it will be worth your while to check out the Mustard Mobile and try some of these new Skittles. The bus will be in Atlanta on July 31, D.C. on August 2, and NYC on August 5.

Can I buy the mustard Skittles online?

If you aren’t near these locations though, today might be your lucky day. If you visit McCormick’s website and fill in some of your personal info, you have the chance to win a free pack of mustard Skittles. This offer stands until August 5, but winners are limited, so enter ASAP!

What do people think about the mustard Skittles?

People are definitely skeptical about this new flavor, and don’t seem too thrilled about the collab, but aren’t sure what to expect, either. Tangy, savory Skittles aren’t exactly what candy-lovers were hoping for this week. But, sometimes these unexpected surprises are the best ones yet. French’s wanted to go out with a bang this year for National Mustard Day, and I have to say, this collab is definitely getting the attention they wanted — and deserve. Only time will tell how delicious, or disgusting, these Skittles are.
