A Snack Guide For Your Taylor Swift Listening Party

April 19 is a long-awaited day for Swifties everywhere. Taylor Swift’s brand new album, titled The Tortured Poets Department, finally releases this Friday. Based on the title and the names of the songs, it sounds like it’s going to be a rollercoaster of emotions. Taylor Swift also curated playlists exploring the stages of grief, we’re in for the ultimate heartbreak album with The Tortured Poets Department. So, you’re going to need lots of snacks while you listen. Here’s what you should munch on during your Taylor Swift listening party.

I️ce Cream

With songs like “So Long, London” (RIP Joe), there’s bound to be some tears at your listening party. And what better way to remedy a broken heart than by eating ice cream? I personally recommend Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked, or classic Häagen-Dazs vanilla, with lots of toppings. I mean, lots of them (chocolate chips, hot fudge, sprinkles, to name a few).

Spicy Chips

I’m talking Hot Cheetos and Takis. I have a feeling some songs, like “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” will have some spice to them. Swift is not coming to play. You can even make the viral “hot chip salad,” like this one by TikTok user @ashleyy_.xoxo.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Of course, Taylor would never give us an album with zero love songs. I’m predicting “loml” will be a love song (shoutout Travis Kelce). So, you’re gonna need a “romantic” snack, and what says love more than chocolate-covered strawberries?

They’re super easy to make: you just need chocolate and strawberries! You can make them even fancier by adding toppings to the melted chocolate, like nuts.

Scones

While this is an album listening party, it’s also a goodbye party to the British (for Swift, at least). Say so long to London (Boy) by adding scones to your spread, a classic British baked good. Serve with jam and butter for added flavor! I bet Joe Alywn would love this touch.

Tea

And of course, you’re going to need something to wash it all down (the snacks, and the songs). Tea is the beverage of intellectuals, poets included. Hot or iced, it’s the perfect beverage to sip on while you listen to Taylor deliver what might be her most emotional album yet. Plus, she’ll be spilling all the tea.
