Dearest gentle reader, the Bridgerton Season 3 premiere is vastly approaching. Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) love story will be in full bloom starting May 16, with part two of the Netflix Original series premiering June 13. If the show promos and interviews between Coughlan and Newton reveal anything, the upcoming season will be a steamy one. In true Bridgerton and Shonda Rhimes fashion, Season 3 is also bound to be emotional (I’m still not over King George saying “My heart calls your name” to Charlotte). So, while you’re clutching your pearls or grabbing the box of tissues, here’s a list of snacks and drinks to have during your Bridgerton watch party.
Bite-sized desserts
From fruit tarts to cupcakes to macarons, these mini desserts will be perfect to snack on while watching. Plus, the mini aspect of them just gives off High Tea vibes. Opt for getting your favorites from a bakery or make your own. The most important dessert to have is fruit tarts. The tarts are easy to make and so cute!
An easy-to-follow recipe is from @daryabakes, which features a homemade crust and pastry cream filling, topped with strawberries, blueberries, and powdered sugar.
Charcuterie Board
Who doesn’t love a charcuterie board? Make the ultimate charcuterie board with your favorite meats, cheeses, jams, and fruits. I suggest making sure to include variations of yellow and blue foods (for example: lemon slices, blueberry jam, apricot jam, and bleu cheese crumbles) to match Penelope and Colin.
Cocktails
While you’re swooning over a Bridgerton, have a cocktail to match. @yellowbellykelly on TikTok’s Swoon Pink Lemonade features gin, grapefruit liqueur, lemon juice, Swoon Pink Lemonade, sparkling wine, and pink edible glitter. To the drink add berries and/or edible flowers.
To continue you with a floral theme, opt for @megstearoom’s tea cocktail — steeped butterfly pea tea, vodka, and some sprigs of mint.
Finger Sandwiches
Ideally cucumber or chicken salad sandwiches; however, this is up to you! Make your favorite sandwiches as long as the sandwiches are in triangles.
Lemon Cake
A lemon cake is a must for a watch party, especially after its debut in season 2 to reminisce on the enemies-to-lovers romance between Kate and Anthony. In her “Foods from Shows” TikTok series, Chloe Huang recreated the cake that appeared in episode 5.
The recipe, with more details on her website, features a lemon curd filling and cream cheese frosting, then is decorated with yellow and white roses.
Scones
This is a must-have if you’re going for a high tea-inspired watch party. My favorite scones are Jeremy Scheck’s chocolate chip scones.
This has been my go-to recipe since Scheck posted it in 2020. It’s a very easy-to-follow recipe, resulting in flakey and soft scones. If you aren’t a chocolate lover, switch out the chocolate chips for a berry — @natashaskitchen’s created a blueberry version with a lemon glaze.
Tea
With Lady Whistledown as the main love interest this season, it’s only right to have tea be a part of the watch party. Sip on your favorite tea, while tea is being spilled in the show.
