With football season here, it's time to suit up in our jerseys and get ready to cheer. This year, I'm going to go all out and try to channel my favorite quarterback in what I'm eating as well, so bring on the fish.

Cam Newton became a pescatarian in 2013 and has stuck with it ever since. Cam changed his diet as a way to sacrifice something for the upcoming season. He also looks at his diet as a form of good luck, so he has no plans of changing it any time soon.

Cam explained that ever since he gave up meat he "liked the way he was feeling," so he has not gone back. After the successful season the Panthers had last year, it's safe to say that eating fish is the way to go. So follow my lead if you want to feel like this.

1. Baked Salmon

Yonatan Soler

What Cam puts in his body is very important to his performance, but he doesn't need anything too fancy to get the job done. Cam focuses on eating high protein fish in order to keep up with his workout regimen and salmon definitely fits that description. Try this dish out at home if you want to feel like Super Cam.

2. Caesar Salad with Blackened Shrimp

salad, vegetable, lettuce, spinach
Nina Lincoff

In an interview with "The New Potato" Cam admitted that his ideal lunch would be a Caesar salad with blackened shrimp. He has to sneak in his veggies somehow and a Caesar salad is one of the best ways to do it. That creamy dressing can be poured on any undesirable food and it'll taste good.

3. Tilapia Fish Tacos

chicken, lime, bread, tomato, tacos, fish, cheese, vegetable
Maddy Shannon

Since Cam only eats fish as his main source of protein, it's important that he switches up the accompaniments of the fish. Putting the fish in a taco makes you feel like you're indulging, but you know you're still eating well. Cam would probably need to eat five times as many tacos as a mere mortal could eat, but either way he's going to have a bomb meal. Cam, if you're reading this, here's how to make the perfect fish taco, whatever the occasion.

4. Sushiritto

sushi, burrito, rice, ice, cream
Jayna Goldstein

Why have just sushi or just a burrito when you can have both? This dish is perfect for Cam because he's always on the go. I can just imagine him running out on the field, sushiritto in hand, getting pumped for the game. He has to be careful not to spill it on his dope outfits though because this man has some style.

5. Fish in papilotte (fish in parchment paper)

Fancy name? Check. Easy to make? Check. Cam could impress all of his football friends with the fancy culinary terminology in this dish. It's fish wrapped in parchment paper, which steams the fish and gets the flavors comfy with each other. If you're looking to impress your friends with what looks like a restaurant-quality meal, this is the dish to make

6. Poke Bowl

vegetable, pepper, tomato, salad, cucumber, onion, rice
Angela Pizzimenti

Poke is all the rage nowadays and it's definitely healthy enough to meet Cam's standards. As an added bonus, there is barely any cooking involved, it's just assembly. Cam could have all his ingredients prepped ahead of time so that if he needs to get a quick bite before practice, he can quickly throw this together.

7. Sweet Potato Shrimp Boat

chicken, squash
Lauren D'Amore

In the same interview with "The New Potato" Cam also mentioned that his ideal dessert would be sweet potato casserole. Well Cam, you can get dessert and dinner all in one meal with this dish. I mean, I would take any excuse I can get to eat all of the sweet potatoes, but if you're still not convinced, check out the many benefits of the humble sweet potato.

8. Ceviche

vegetable, dairy product, fish, cheese, tomato, meat, seafood
Lauren Kaplan

Nothing is better after a day in the hot Carolina sun than some refreshing ceviche. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it also tastes amazing. After a summer practice, Cam isn't going to feel like coming home and standing over a hot stove. The fish cooks with the magic power of citrus. 9. Gluten-Free Salmon Cakes with Avocado Dip

salmon, fish, parsley, potato, crab, vegetable
Olivia Chadwick

Anyone with a brain knows that the most delicious way to eat seafood is in cake form. If the gluten-free part of this recipe scares/worries you/gives you any sort of anxiety, do not fear. All you have to do is replace the gluten-free bread crumbs with regular bread crumbs. This dish is perfect for Cam because it contains a lot of healthy fats and is a great way to switch up the normal baked fish routine.

10. Spicy Lemon Caper Seafood Pasta

sauce, pasta, spaghetti, vegetable, tomato, basil
Shalayne Pulia

Cam needs his protein from the fish, but he also needs some carbs to go with it. The pasta is yet another delicious vehicle for the fish to take a ride on. The spicy component of this pasta is also important because spicy food is known to have a lot of health benefits.
