Spooky season is approaching and whether you spend the holiday trick or treating, dressing up, or attending a party, we can all at least agree that there is no wrong occasion for the appearance of a sweet treat. Halloween is full of fun and creepy characters like witches, ghosts, monsters, vampires, and zombies and they are perfect inspiration for your Halloween-themed desserts. Below, we have our top 6 favorite Halloween-themed desserts that are easy to make and delicious to eat.
Witch Hat Cookies
To make these easy cookies, you will need a package of Fudge Strips, a package of Hershey Kisses, and fall-colored icing and sprinkles. In less than a minute, you can construct a witch hat cookie by taking your Hershey Kiss, adding a dollop of frosting on the bottom, sticking it to the bottom of the fudge strip, and adding sprinkles.
Upside Down Pumpkin Cupcakes
For these fall-themed cupcakes, you will need a box of cupcake mix (funfetti suggested), a tub of orange frosting, fall-themed sprinkles, a package of tootsie rolls, and a package of sugar cones. Once you make your cupcake batter, stick the wide part of the sugar cone into each cupcake on the tray and bake for the designated time. Once cooled, decorate with orange frosting and sprinkles and stick a tootsie roll into the top to create a pumpkin stem. These are easy, yummy, and let’s not forget oh-so-cute for Halloween or fall in general.
Cupcake Ghosts
Pumpkins aren’t the only thing you can make your cupcakes look like. With tinfoil, white frosting, and some nonperil sprinkles, you can have ghost-themed cupcakes too. Once your cake batter is made, make small balls of tin foil and place them on the outside of the cupcake liner inside of the cupcake tin to get a ghost-like shape. Then, once the cupcakes are cooled, frost them with white icing and black non-peril sprinkles to give them a spooky face.
Witch Finger Cookies
For this creepy treat, you will need a package of pretzel rods, green frosting, and sliced almonds. Dip the pretzel rod ¾ of the way down in the green frosting. Once it has mostly dried, stick the sliced almond at the top to create a witch nail. And, if you are feeling extra creative, add strawberry, raspberry, or cherry jam for a little blood or even pistachio chunks for warts!
Monster Rice Krispies Treats
To make this simple dessert, grab some parchment paper, candy eyes (in any shape or size), candy melts in a variety of colors, pre-packaged Rice Krispie Treats, and sprinkles. Once you have melted the candy melts, stick the Rice Krispies Treat ¾ of the way in. Then, put the eyes and sprinkles on, and in less than three minutes you can have a monster Rice Krispies treat.
Shattered Class Cupcakes
For this recipe, be sure to have sugar, water, light corn syrup, red food coloring, and a package of red velvet cupcake mix. Once you bake your cupcakes according to the package directions and allow them to cool, you can start on your shattered class decoration. Follow the video above to get a faux shattered glass effect. Once the sugar has hardened, break it apart and add it to the top of your cupcakes with corn syrup dyed red for a gory, but yummy cupcake.
