Bagels are arguably the best type of bread (chewy, toast-able, delicious) and breakfast food out there—though I’m a strong believer that bagels can be eaten at any meal. Don’t believe me? Just check out this article on how to do it. If you want to try your hand at making homemade bagels try this recipe and add whatever flavorings you want! Want more inspiration? January: Chocolate Chip
A sweet way to start the year, try toasting a chocolate chip bagel and serve with peanut butter, sliced banana, dates or raisins, and top with hemp seeds.
February: Croissant Bagel
On of the best hybrids out there, celebrate the month featuring the quirky Aquarius of bagels: the croissant bagel. Slice and serve with avocado, tomato, and a fried egg or JUSTEgg with some salt and pepper.
March: Cinnamon Raisin
One of my go-to’s, in the dreary month of March I find myself often reaching towards the comfort breakfast of a cinnamon raisin bagel with (tofutti) cream cheese, jam, peanut butter, and sliced banana.
April: Pumpernickel
As spring begins, mix up your breakfast with a pumpernickel bagel served with cream cheese, onions, (carrot) lox, and capers.
May: Rainbow!
With seasons change from spring going into summer celebrate the warm weather with rainbow bagels topped with strawberry cream cheese, yum!
June: Everything
One of the best sandwich bagels, this everything bagel is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner toasted and topped with avocado, egg, cheese, and spinach.
July: Blueberry
July is National Blueberry Month and if you need some recipe inspiration to celebrate just check out these options. I’d recommend enjoying a blueberry bagel with blueberry cream cheese or blueberry jam (is there such a thing as too much blueberries?)
August: Matcha
Want something fun, funky, and fresh? Look no further than this matcha and red bean paste filling.
September: Nutella
A great option for a dessert bagel, this decadent Nutella bagel is nutty, full of chocolate, and a delicious way to end your day.
October: Pumpkin
While it may be stereotypical, pumpkin bagels are now in season and why not indulge? Enjoy with maple cream cheese or a drizzle of honey and sunflower seeds.
November : Rosemary
A great savory dinner or brunch idea, try this rosemary bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese. Other great herbs include thyme or oregano.
December: Asiago
During the cold and chill of the winter, tomato soup with grilled cheese is a classic comfort meal, but what about having an Asiago bagel grilled cheese sandwich? (Now I just need to find the dairy free version for all of us lactose-intolerant/vegan folks).
