Malibu isn’t only is it a city in California, but it’s also a brand of rum. Although the winter seems never-ending with the constant fluctuating temperature and the snow, summer is indeed right around the corner. And for me, that means Malibu rum drinks. While most of us—myself included—will be hitting up the beach this summer, we may want a drink to keep us hydrated. These Malibu rum drinks taste just like the beach and are perfect for sipping when it gets warm.
1. The Blue Ivy
The Blue Ivy is one of my favorite Malibu rum drinks, not only for its stunning color, but also for the 2.5 oz of Malibu rum in it. You can be sipping on this beautiful cocktail in less than 10 minutes.
2. Piña Colada
One of my favorite things about this piña colada recipe is that it only takes five minutes to make a grand total of three servings. Also, it has three shots of Malibu rum in it, which isn’t bad for something that’s this quick to make.
3. Peep Punch
Whoever thinks Peeps are the worst Easter candy should seriously reconsider their opinions. This Malibu rum drink is smooth, quick to make, and colorful—just like the beach.
4. Red Grapefruit Margarita
One of my favorite things about this Malibu margarita is that the company keeps it on the rocks and using different garnishes in their recipe. Besides, who’d want to drink warm, bitter alcohol?
5. Cape Peach Cooler
Aside from the fact that this peach cooler uses peaches and cream rum, my favorite part about this drink is that it’s delicious, but not overbearing. Sometimes the best drinks happen to be the simplest.
6. Ooh La La
While this cocktail is on the sweeter side, I’m a major fan. I’d take a sweeter cocktail over a stronger one anyway. It’s actually my favorite part about the drink. After consuming this drink, you’ll be able to say that it’s just as sweet as your time at the beach.
7. Bellini
Would it really be a Malibu drink if it didn’t have a gorgeous color to it? I’m unsure. But what I’m sure about is that the fact that the recipe calls for wine and rum, which is all that matters really.
8. Paradise
Yes, I fully understand that the recipe calls for 3/5th of Malibu rum and 2/5 of Absolut vodka, but I swear I’m not crazy. My favorite part about this drink is that it also has cranberry juice in it, which makes it a bougier cranberry vodka. I’m basic and I love cranberry vodkas.
9. Cranberry Lemonade
While the vast majority of this drink is juice, it’s light and smooth. It’s great for those beach days when the air is perfectly crisp, and you want something a little lighter to sip on.
10. Island Cosmo
While this is another drink that mixes Malibu and Absolut with one another, it’s definitely worth trying if you’re looking for something that’s on the stronger side.
11. Swirl & Lemon-lime Soda
This cocktail is more of a soda and not so much of an actual alcoholic drink. Sometimes, all you need is a good soda to kick back and relax after a stressful day.
12. Red Pocket Square
This drink is refreshing without being too sugary. Try using different juices to see which drink combos you can create.
Now that we’ve established that Malibu is a versatile rum, I can only hope that you’ll make yourself a few cocktails this summer. When in doubt, make a Malibu and Coke and call it a day.
