The 10 Best Larabar Flavors, Ranked by Taste

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Hamilton chapter.

Larabars are a fantastic snack that are quick, easy, nutritious, and delectable. With 18 flavors that are always available and 3three limited edition/seasonal flavors, there’s surely a bar—or two, or three—that will satisfy your tastebuds. From fruity bars like the Lemon Bar or Apple Pie, to the sweet bars like Mint Chip Brownie or Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, there are a multitude of flavors to choose from. Let’s not forget that these bars are made with whole foods. Each bar contains very few ingredients, and are primarily made from dates and nuts. Here are the 10 best Larabar flavors, based on taste.

10. Cherry Pie

Although tart, this tastes like just like cherry and that’s what you would expect when there are only three ingredients (dates, almonds, and unsweetened cherries). I’ve never had cherry pie so I can’t vouch for how closely it resembles the dessert, but I can vouch that this tastes like cherries. If you love cherries like I do, then you will definitely keep grabbing for this bar.

9. Peanut Butter and Jelly

Can you say “nostalgia?” Tastes like a delicious PB&J that my mom just made my brother and I for lunch. The peanuts and cherries complement each other very well in this bar. There’s also no hidden or unknown ingredients; you know exactly what’s going into your body: dates, peanuts, unsweetened cherries, and sea salt.

8. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Although this bar doesn’t really taste like cookie dough, the chocolate is what delivers the knock-out punch. Still a delectable bar and definitely satisfies that sweet tooth.

7. Peanut Butter Cookie

This bar tastes just like peanut butter. I know it’s called “Peanut Butter Cookie,” but honestly it doesn’t taste like a cookie. That being said, it does taste delicious because I’m a peanut butter nut (pun intended).

6. Chocolate Chip Brownie

This is a chocolate overload, and who can be upset about that? The chocolate chips add a nice texture and while you’ll know you’re not biting into a real brownie, the chocolate taste is definitely there.

5. Banana Bread

This bar is pretty self explanatory. It tastes just like banana bread. If you’re not a fan of bananas, you may not enjoy this bar. In the words of the great Eric Koenreich, “your mileage may vary.”

4. Mint Chip Brownie

It’s what it’s said to be: mint and chocolate. This bar lives up to expectation with its authentic flavor.

3. Lemon Bar

This tastes just like a yellow Starburst. Enough said.

2. Apple Pie

Nothing is better in the fall than anything apple: apple crisp, apple cake, apple bars, apple cider sangria, and the OG apple pie (sorry, I am not a huge pumpkin fan). If there isn’t a pie around to grab a slice from, then definitely reach for one of these bars because its reminiscent of apple pie. The cinnamon was subtle and not overpowering, just like it is in a nice warm slice of apple pie.

1. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip

Now this bar is by far the top choice in my opinion. Peanut butter and chocolatey goodness. I don’t think there needs to be more said. It’s amazing. Let the chocolate chips melt a little—oh my gosh, game changer. I could go on and on about this flavor, but articles can’t be that long.

These are the best Larabar flavors, in my opinion, and yours may be different. But that’s the beauty of things. We should all accept the differences in life that we have and that make us who we are. If you think Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip is the worst flavor, so be it, I won’t judge you. I recommend that you try all of the flavors for yourself and determine your own list of your best Larabar flavors.

I love all things peanut butter! No lie, I eat PB at least once a day. I love baking and cooking, especially for other people!
