4 Underrated Foods You Need to Eat at Smorgasburg Brooklyn

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Wash U chapter.

If you’ve been to Smorgasburg, you know what it’s all about: tons of vendors with delicious food and tons of people. It can be difficult to choose what to eat with the amount of options they have accumulated.

Sure, you’ve probably heard of the ramen burger, spaghetti donut, or home frite french fries. Now don’t get me wrong, some of the most popular foods at Smorgasburg are the best ones, but they have some incredibly mouthwatering underrated foods. I checked out the best underrated foods at Smorgasburg Brooklyn and you should, too.

1. Chicken and Waffles from Beehive Oven

Chicken and Waffles is one of my favorite dishes, and Beehive Oven nails it. The chicken is crispy, the waffle is sweet and it’s topped with maple syrup and pickles. Every aspect of this dish pairs perfectly with each other. They also have their own location with lots of comfort food on the menu in Brooklyn.

2. Mozzarella Sticks from Big Mozz

The Big Mozz mozzarella sticks are at the top of the list of my favorite Smorgasburg eats. They are always hot and fresh and the cheese oozes tantalizingly out of them. These bad boys live up to their namesake; they’re definitely larger than your average mozzarella stick

3. Garlic Shrimp Salt Yakisoba from Yakisoba

I hadn’t heard of this dish before I visited Smorgasburg, but I’m definitely glad I ate it. The noodles are cooked to perfection and each bite is filled with tons of umami flavor.  If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can get it topped with a fried egg or crispy garlic. It’s delectable, unique, and you won’t have to wait in a long line for it.

4. Churro ice cream sandwich from Dulcinea

This churro ice cream sandwich is a must at Smorgasburg. The beauty comes in three flavors, but the salted caramel is my go-to. There’s fresh caramel, creamy ice cream, and cookie crumbs all sandwiched in between two hot and fresh churros. Dulcinea also serves up a classic cinnamon sugar coated churro, perfect for a traditionalist.

I can’t wait to go back to Smorgasburg Brooklyn and explore more of their fantastic eats. You can visit Smorgasburg Brooklyn on Saturdays in Williamsburg’s East River State Park and Sundays in Prospect Park.
