Every year on Easter, my mom used to make these intricate baskets with tons of confetti, chocolate and of course, Peeps. We did the traditional yellow bunnies, the blue and pink chicks and everything else in between. I used to think we’d done it all then, but I was wrong. Here are seven Peeps-flavored treats you’ve probably never heard of.
1. Peeps-Flavored Oreos
These came out pretty recently and a lot of people have been on the fence about them. Some people claim they’re all hype and that they’re just a regular Oreo dyed pink, while others are head over heels for these neon pink treats. There have also been claims that these turn your tongue and poop pink, which is also debatable and probably depends on how much you eat.
2. Peeps-Flavored Milk
While some of these flavors actually sound decent (I’m looking at you, Chocolate Marshmallow), I cannot imagine anyone buying Orange Creme and thinking it would taste good. If you’re feeling extra peeptaculous (no, that’s not a real word), you could even dunk your Peeps-flavored Oreos into Peeps-flavored milk and have the ultimate Peeps experience.
3. Peeps Carrot Cake Cupcakes
This is probably the smartest combo I’ve heard because it incorporates both carrots and “rabbits.” While you may not be able to find this cupcake flavor at your local bakery, this recipe looks fairly easy to make and can even be made dairy-free, which is a plus for sure.
4. Peeps Macarons
On any day or occasion if macarons are in the mix, you know it’s going to be a good day. Which is why I was so excited when I found a recipe for Peeps-filled macarons that not only looks really good, but also doesn’t look too complicated.
#SpoonTip: If you’re allergic to eggs, or are vegan, you can also use the liquid from canned chickpeas to make the macarons instead.
5. Peeps Rice Krispies Treats
Using a traditional Rice Krispies treat recipe with a Peeps-infused twist, you can easily pull these off and impress the whole family on Easter. If you really want to go above and beyond, you can even use multiple Peeps colors to make them stand out.
6. Peeps Cocktails
While this sounds like the worst possible combo, apparently there are five cocktails we’ve found that you can make with Peeps. You know, because nothing sounds better than ingesting a high amount of sugar and alcohol at the same time.
7. S’mores Peeps
S’mores are magical and hold a special place in our hearts, but s’mores Peeps are definitely on a whole other level. Out of all of the recipes, these seem the easiest to make and the easiest to share, so you might want to consider adding them into your Easter plans.
Some people love Peeps, other hate them. However you feel about them, if you thought some of these ideas were interesting, make sure you send them along to your Peeps-loving relatives.
