Where to Eat Before a Night Out in Dallas

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Oklahoma chapter.

With the Red River Rivalry weekend approaching, many OU students will head to Dallas to attend the biggest game of the season. Other than watching the football game, eating good food and going out at night are two huge priorities for OU students during this legendary weekend. Dallas is full of restaurants, good and bad, so based on the quality of food and cocktails, here is a D-Town native’s guide on where to eat before a night out in Dallas.

Villa-O

Villa-O is not only a great place to eat some delicious Italian food, but their wide variety of wines and cocktails does not disappoint. A short drive from Uptown, come here to carb-load and energize before a night out while you enjoy a glass of wine or Villa-O’s original “Frozen Sfuzzi” (pictured below).

#SpoonTip: Villa-O also has great brunch specials from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday with $10 bottomless mimosas, bloody marys and Frozen Sfuzzis.

The Rustic

Located in Uptown Dallas, The Rustic is a prime place to go for a night out or a pregame before you hit the bars. They are known for their live music, homestyle cooking, and wide range of beers and unique cocktails. The Rimy Rita (pictured above) is a frozen margarita with a sangria popsicle that’ll make for a sweet night!

Bar Stellar

Bar Stellar is one of Dallas’ newer and most Instagram-worthy hotspots. Not only do they have a wide range of contemporary and unique cocktails like the Skull Crusher (pictured below), but they also have a limited and exquisite food menu including Truffle Fries and Chicken in a Cone (pictured above).

Stirr

If there was an award for “Best Views in Dallas,” Stirr would win without a doubt. Stirr is also fairly new to Dallas, but it has already become a big hit with its funky decor, amazing food and drinks, and of course, its rooftop bar with an outrageously beautiful view of the Dallas skyline. Deep Ellum is another great place to spend a night out, so if you’re in the area, stop by Stirr for dinner, drinks and/or dessert (like the s’mores dessert pictured below).

The Common Table

Located in Uptown, The Common Table is not only a short proximity from the popular bar strip, but it has an amazing selection of food and cocktails, as well. They also have a large outdoor seating area, which is a great atmosphere when the weather is right! Bring your friends and share a Common Table Punch (pictured below) or a pitcher of Skittles Sangria while you devour their popular Grilled Cheese or a juicy burger.

The Standard Pour

Last but not least, The Standard Pour is another Uptown favorite. Their dinner menu is lined up with many delicious comfort food options and the drink menu is five pages full of alcoholic concoctions. One of the more popular drinks is The Big Mule (pictured above), which serves four people! In addition, The Standard Pour has happy hour from 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and they even have a late night food menu from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
