This Iron Throne Will Make You Feel Like the Ruler of Westeros (and the Kitchen)

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Northwestern chapter.

As April 24th approaches, there’s one thing on all of our minds: Winter is coming. We’ve cleared our calendars for the next 10 Sunday nights and have already seen all the previews, trailers and sneak peeks for Season 6.

But hey, instead of crawling into your bed and staring into the bright light of your laptop screen as you watch White Walkers eat babies and armored men get swords through their chests, let’s add some ~culinary flair~ and shake up this season of Game of Thrones.

Spoon University is providing you with the hottest list of GOT-inspired recipes for every new installment of Game of Thrones Season 6. Check back every week before the airing of a new episode to find out what you can bake or cook for your GOT viewing party.

You’ll need to turn on your creativity and get your artist hand ready, because some of these recipes will require some brains and brawn. So preheat your oven, invite some friends over, and let’s make this season epic AND delicious.

We’re starting off the season with the most classic and necessary component of them all: The Iron Throne Scone. You can’t have a Game of Thrones without the throne, so we’re taking this key character and making it edible. You can enjoy this recipe for breakfast or dessert, but most importantly as a way to demonstrate your authority across all of the lands.

Note: All recipes were inspired by the book, Game of Scones, written by Jammy Lannister.

#SpoonTip: The dough will not change shape while baking, so create desired shape before putting in the oven.

  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Allow to cool and build your throne – ahem – scone. I used toothpicks and licorice sticks, but feel free to use pretzel sticks, screws, swords, blades, iron scraps, etc. Add berries, whipped cream, or butter to satisfy your culinary desires.

Sit upon the throne if you are worthy, or devour it like the hungry heathen that you are.
