Cookie Jar DC Has Officially Won The Cookie Dough Game

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at George Mason chapter.

Contrary to popular belief, the best part of making cookies is not actually the finished product. Feasting on the freshly mixed ingredients, straight out of the bowl, is what true cookie lovers live for. However, we’ve all heard time and time again that eating raw cookie dough is risky considering the raw egg factor. While I love uncooked dough as much as the next person, just the thought of salmonella has turned me away from indulging in this tastebud luxury more times than not. I hadn’t given it too much more thought until I came across The Cookie Jar DC.

It’s practically a thing of childhood fantasy; multiple flavors of edible cookie dough available, completely safe to eat as is. Too good to be true you think? So did I. There was no way that this “edible” cookie dough was going to taste as good as the real thing. And I was right. It was better.

How is it better?

This product doesn’t even taste like it is designed after the concept of unbaked cookie dough, which is supposed to be cooked and then eaten. It stands on its own so well that I almost don’t want to refer to it as cookie dough at all. It doesn’t have eggs, contains heat-treated flour and is 100% preservative free. So like I said; unreal. Signature flavors like Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Sugar Cookie Funfetti make you forget that there are warm, crispy and baked versions available.

The mini jars are basically personal-sized gateways to sensory heaven. It’s the best of both worlds; smells just like cookies, tastes like the dough. Fortunately, the word is getting out about this unique spot, and it’s becoming available at more and more locations.

Where is it?

If you happen to be in the DC area, stop by 2 Union Kitchen Grocery in Ivy City between 11:00 am – 4:00 pm Mondays-Thursdays to pick up your pre-ordered jars. Don’t worry because if you can’t make it there select flavors are available at several stores in DC, Virginia, and Maryland, and they do shipping as well! There’s a special S’Mores Cookie Dough flavor being offered for a limited time so get it while you can.
