It’s that time of year again. The leaves are changing, the temperature is dropping and people are flipping out about Pumpkin Spice. We couldn’t even make it through the first week of September without seeing the seasonal flavor pop back up on the shelves. Ever since the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks was released a few years back, it seemed to start some Pumpkin spice movement. The PSL (which has it’s own Instagram account) developed a cult-like following with devoted members that want everything to be Pumpkin Spiced. But the movement has gone TOO far and we need to start drawing the line. Listen to me loud and clear Pumpkin Spice fans because these 10 items should definitely not be Pumpkin Spiced.
1. Butter
Plain butter, alright I get it. Tastes good and aids in cooking a lot of things. Pumpkin spiced butter? Nope, don’t understand. What purpose does it serve? Can you only put it on bread? It’s troubling and should be taken off the market.
2. Almonds
I didn’t really think almonds could get too crazy, but these are in with the fall trend. Add these into to next trail mix for all the fall festivities.
3. Cinnamon Rolls
Cinnamon Rolls finally have some competition as Trader Joe’s and Pillsbury released Pumpkin Rolls. Something about the orange icing doesn’t sit right, but then again it’s Pumpkin Spice so how could it be bad? Pumpkin Rolls with Pumpkin Spice icing there’s no way that could be overkill right?
4. Moonshine
I can’t say I’ve ever tried Moonshine, but I’m pretty positive making it pumpkin spiced doesn’t take the pain away. I’m sure it will go down easier with an apple cider chaser.
5. Pop Tarts
I’m not shocked that Pop Tarts have jumped on the pumpkin theme, as they seemed to make anything into a Pop Tart. Some of their work includes Root Beer, Watermelon, and even the infamous Blue raspberry.
6. Jamba Juice “Pumpkin Smash” Smoothie
It looks like Jamba Juice felt left out of the whole pumpkin spiced craze. The popular smoothie chain had to join in on the action and start selling a blending up can of pumpkin pie mix.
7. Cheerios
Start your morning off the pumpkin spice way with Pumpkin Spice Cheerios. Maybe there will be pumpkin spiced milk released to go along with it.
8. Protein Powder
Pumpkin Spice with 30gs of protein! Time for those fall gains. Now you can feel guilt free when giving into your Pumpkin Spice cravings.
9. Greenies Dog Treats
Finally, the suburban dogs of America can join in on the Pumpkin Spice craze. You no longer have to feel bad drinking your pumpkin spice lattes in front of your dog. Now they can join in on the fall fun!
10. Peeps
This is by far the most disturbing item on the list. Peeps are even unacceptable during Easter, in my opinion. Now they have crossed over onto the fall holidays, and it’s down-right disrespectful.
Alright, now that I’ve had my fun it’s time to admit some of these items on this list sound pretty good. Whether or not PSL haters want to admit it Pumpkin Spice is actually not horrible. However, at the end of the day, the line was still crossed. Moonshine? Peeps? Protein Powder? What else is coming for us this Pumpkin Spiced season?
