Update: Dolly Parton might be working overtime. The “9 to 5” singer took to Instagram this morning to tease her latest foray into the food scene. It looks like the southern superstar enjoys Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza with her breakfast, “Mexican Pizza: the Musical,” that is.
Parton posted what appears to be a script trimmed with Taco Bell’s trademark purple hue alongside her morning cup of tea. “I’m making #MexicanPizzaTheMusical with @TacoBell #tacobellpartner,” the caption read.
Mexican Pizza has consistently served as a muse for the music industry. In March, Doja Cat posted a jingle for the fan favorite dish.
The latest Taco Bell production is sure to serve up more tasty tunes. “Mexican Pizza: the Musical” debuts on TikTok May 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
This wouldn’t be the first time Parton has shared her devotion to Mexican Pizza. In February, Parton stated in an interview with Insider that she’s a “big fan” of Taco Bell and expressed her love for their Mexican Pizza, a menu item that has long been under hot debate by Taco Bell fans and the media.
This statement followed a barrage of news headlines about Parton, following brand new, iconic brand collaborations with the queen of country, including Parton’s Jeni’s Ice Cream flavor and her baking collaboration with Duncan Hines emphasizing southern recipes.
In the exclusive Insider interview with reporter Anneta Konstantinides, Parton revealed her go-to order at the popular Mexican inspired restaurant, stating she “always gets a Taco Supreme, with the sour cream and all that, in a soft shell.” Then, without being prompted or questioned on the controversy surrounding Taco Bell’s cheesiest menu item (or rather lack thereof), Parton recalled eating a Mexican Pizza at one of the fast food chains restaurants.
When asked if she thought the chain should bring back the menu item, the country diva responded with an enthusiastic statement: “I think they should!” Parton joined the army of loyal Taco Bell fans in their fight to bring back the Mexican Pizza, backed up by a viral petition to get the Pizza back on the menu with more than 170,000 signatures. The Mexican Pizza was taken off the Taco Bell menu in November 2020, but is returning soon due to high demand.
