Party Hard with These 3 Convincingly Real Birthday Mocktail Recipes

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Elon chapter.

Picture this: Your birthday is approaching, and you’re almost of drinking age, but not quite. You want to do something fun for you and the girls to celebrate your special day, but an expensive mocktail in the city just isn’t in your price range. So what do you do in this situation? You make them instead!

A mocktail is basically just a concoction of non-alcoholic drinks and juices that’s entirely customizable to your liking.

With these three diverse birthday mocktail recipes, you can spend the night in while still getting your party on. So gather your friends, put on some cute cocktail attire, and be your own bartenders for the night.

The Cinderella

  1. Parsa Lotfi

Pour the juices, grenadine, and bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well.

  2. Ellie Yamanaka

Strain into a chilled glass filled with fresh ice.

  3. Jacqueline O'Reilly

Top with ginger ale or club soda, and garnish with slices of pineapple and/or orange.

This recipe is perfect for the people into a more fruity drink. It’s refreshing and is a great addition to any party. To make it even more interesting and aesthetically pleasing, you can freeze fresh herbs inside of the ice.

Spread frosting around the rim of a martini glass and roll in sprinkles; set aside.

  2. Laura Subiaur

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice (or a large measuring cup or glass), combine cream soda, almond milk, cream, and a drop of pink food coloring. Shake (or stir together) and pour into your prepared martini glass.

  3. @thelindsayann

Add mini cupcake stirrer, if desired. Top a mini peanut butter cup with a little swirl of frosting and sprinkles. Slide on to the top of a straw or cocktail stirrer. Add a spice drop or candy on the bottom of the stirrer to weigh it down. Add to glass and serve.

This mocktail, created by the talented Los Angeles blogger, YouTuber, and baker, Lindsay Ann (be sure to check out her blog here and follow her on Insta), definitely evokes nostalgic memories of anyone’s youth. What can be more reminiscent of someone’s childhood than the combination of the color pink, cupcakes, and sprinkles? For anyone with a sweet tooth, this should definitely be your go-to drink at any birthday celebration.

Banana-Rama

Difficulty:BeginnerPrep time: 5 minutesCook time: minutesTotal time: 5 minutesServings:2 servings

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Caroline Ingalls

In a blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until smooth.

  2. Vienna Terrell

Garnish with slices of banana, strawberry, and/or pineapple.

This drink is very reminiscent of a Miami Vice, being that it includes both strawberries and bananas. This mocktail is my personal favorite because it takes me back to when I sipped Piña Coladas on the beach each day during my vacation to the Dominican Republic. Who wouldn’t want to feel like they’re in a tropical paradise on their birthday?

You can’t possibly go wrong with any of these fun and delicious birthday inspired mocktails. So don’t wait til you’re of age to go out and have a good time. Bring the fun to your home instead.
