I don’t know about you, but I almost always carry snacks with me. It’s a great way to prevent the panic of what to buy when I let myself get too hungry and don’t want to make a decision. Having grown up in New York City, I’ve been privileged enough to find most of my favorite snacks at local grocery stores. When I left for college in Poughkeepsie though, there were a lot less options and I began looking for snacks on Amazon. The following list contains my favorite 10 savory vegan snacks that you can buy on Amazon.
1. Hippeas Chickpea Puffs
Hippeas – a salty chickpea-based snack – are basically the vegan version of cheese puffs. They’re super crunchy, come in five flavors (I like vegan white cheddar the most), and have been enjoyed by vegan and non-vegan friends alike.
2. Rhythm Superfoods Kale Chips
Kale definetly had a big moment a few years ago and kale chips may seem basic at this point, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t delicious. They come in seven flavors, but the original and (dairy-free) nacho cheese are definitely the best.
4. Glutino Pretzel Twists
Pretzels may seem like an obvious vegan snack, but some varieties contain dairy or honey (some vegans do eat honey). While there are lots of varieties of vegan pretzels that contain wheat, these gluten-free ones are extra crunchy and even without a gluten intolerance I prefer them.
4. Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips
Like pretzels, there are a lot of varieties of tortilla chips, many of which are vegan. However, these grain free chips are especially thin and crispy, making them perfect for homemade nachos, dipping in guacamole, or just eating plain.
5. Splitz Split Pea Crisps
I don’t really understand how these super crunchy split pea sticks are made, but they taste incredible and are pretty filling. Himalayan Pink Salt is definitely the best flavor, but Original is a close second.
6. Primal Spirit Foods Vegan Jerky
There are a lot of plant-based jerky alternatives out there, but this one is definitely my favorite. The Texas BBQ flavor is the perfect combination of salty, sweet, and smoky, and five of the six flavors contain at least 10 grams of protein.
7. Eda-Zen Cruncha Ma-me Freeze Dried Edamame
Like almost every good snack food, these freeze-dried edamame are great because of the crunchy texture. However, they’re also filled with protein, giving a health benefit to an already fun snack.
8. Angie’s Boom Chicka Pop Sea Salt Popcorn
I tend to believe that all varieties of savory popcorn are great, but I especially like the simplicity of this sea salt variety. It has the perfect amount of salt and oil without being overpowering.
9. Pirate’s Booty Veggie Booty
Some people grew up with Goldfish or Cheez-Its, but my cabinets were always stocked with veggie booty. It’s simultaneously puffed and crunchy, so it’s just the best of both snacking worlds.
10. Osem Bamba
Manufactured by Osem, a kosher food producer from Israel, this peanut-y snack is simple and delicious. Imagine cheese puffs but with peanut powder instead of cheese. It’s even better than it sounds.
It may seem unnecessary now, but order or buy your snacks in advance. When you’re hungry and roaming the grocery store snack aisle, it can be tough to decide what to get. Hopefully this list has made it a little easier.
