French Fry Ice Cream Pops Now Exist & They’re Delicious

Forget ketchup — when it comes to french fries, I’m all for dipping mine in ice cream. As a sweet and salty lover, nothing quite compares to hot and salty fast food french fries dipped in a chocolate frosty from Wendy’s, Oreo McFlurry from McD’s, or Neopolitan Shake from In-N-Out. Luckily, Ore-Ida and Goodpop are handling the dipping for us this summer with French fry ice cream pops.

Don’t get me wrong, though — I tend to be an ice cream purist, and would never opt for ice cream with potatoes in it. So, I was shocked when I found out that Ore-Ida and Goodpop were teaming up to create the Fudge n’ Vanilla French Fry Pop. But, in the name of science, I had to try the ice cream bar and fry company’s collab, which is coming to stores just in time for National Ice Cream Day on July 21.

What are the Fudge n’ Vanilla French Fry Pop?

According to a press release, this potato pop “wraps a vanilla oat milk frozen base in a rich, chocolate fudge shell rolled in real, crispy potato bits.” Yes, it is dairy-free and gluten-free. Already winning major points.

What does the Fudge n’ Vanilla French Fry Pop taste like?

Taking that first bite is a leap of faith. My hopes were low — how can you maintain the textural integrity of a french fry in ice cream? That first bite, though, was pure perfection: a burst of cold, creamy vanilla ice cream, studded with tiny, surprisingly crunchy potato bits.

The dark chocolate coating adds a delectable touch of richness, and the potato bits offer a subtle salty counterpoint to the sweetness. Would I ever think to put french fries in an ice cream bar? No. Am I glad that someone else did it for me? Yes, because wow. This ice cream pop slaps.

Beyond the perfect combination of sweet and salty elements, the texture is the most interesting aspect of this pop. The smooth ice cream contrasts with the crispy potato bits, creating a fun textural experience similar to a classic cookie-coated bar. Plus, the potato bits don’t soften much as the pop melts (major win, Ore-Ida), so be prepared for a bit of a crunch in every bite.

The combination of sweet, salty, and creamy is surprisingly satisfying, and the textural contrast is intriguing. If you’re a purist who prefers classic ice cream flavors and textures, this might not be your cup of tea (or should we say, cup of fries?), but this limited-edition collaboration is a quirky and delightful treat. Just be prepared for a flavor and texture experience that’s unlike any other ice cream pop you’ve ever had — in an absolutely spud-tacular way.
