This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Tulane chapter.

With the summer heating up, this cinnamon bun ice cream recipe is the perfect way to cool down. With this recipe, I have simply provided the base of how to make ice cream truly taste like a cinnamon bun. If you want to add chunks of cinnamon roll or other cinnamon-related goodies to add an extra something, go right ahead.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Ian Joselow

Assemble all of your ingredients and make sure to soften the cream cheese either by microwave or by leaving it out beforehand.

  2. Ian Joselow

Place all the ingredients together inside a blender and blend until creamy. Make sure not to over blend and make the cream into butter. Note: If your batter is a little grainy from the cream cheese, that’s okay. The granules will form delicious cinnamon cream cheese pockets as it freezes.

  3. Ian Joselow

Pour the batter inside an ice cream maker and leave until partially frozen (about 45 minutes).

  4. Ian Joselow

Place the ice cream mixture into a container and freeze until firm (about 3 and a half to 4 hours).

Now if you want to take this ice cream to a whole new level, combine your cinnamon bun ice cream with these delicious cinnamon roll ice cream cones or serve any of these mug dessert recipes à la mode– the possibilities with this sweet, cinnamon treat are endless.

I love to cook and all things food (obviously!) while still trying to experiment with new flavors every day. I am a theater kid through and through and enjoy performing as well as other musically-oriented activities. When not pursuing my epicurean fantasies, I am also a double major in Public Health along with my Business major (which will be concentrated in Marketing). I cannot wait to be a member of this family and to provide the rest of Tulane with the foodie knowledge it deserves! Fun fact: I waited 4 1/2 hours on line at 4 AM to try a Cronut, it was worth it.
