See What the New Year Has in Store With These Homemade Fortune Cookies

New Year’s means a lot of different things. For some it’s a chance for a fresh start and for others it’s a chance to set goals. For a few (like me) it’s their birthday! Regardless of what New Year’s means to you, it is somewhat shrowded in mystery. Maybe you’ll win $1 million, take the trip of a lifetime, or meet your one true love. Why not take the wheel of fortune for a spin and see what the new year has in store with these homemade fortune cookies?

Homemade Fortune Cookies

    Preheat oven to 375ºF.

    Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and prepare fortune cookie slips.

    Beat egg whites and sugar in a large bowl with a mixer for 2 minutes (or until frothy).

    Add in butter, vanilla and almond extracts, water, and flour. Beat after each ingredient is added.

    Using a tablespoon, scoop out the batter onto the baking sheet. Spread into 3-inch wide circles.

    Bake for 7 minutes or until the edges are brown.

    Fold the cookies in half, almost like the shape of a taco.

    Slip a fortune into the cookie.

    Place the cookie onto the rim of a cup and fold down the edges.
