Elevate Your S’mores This Summer With These 6 Recipes

S’mores are a cute, simple, and foolproof dessert. Not to mention budget-friendly. But the combination of melted chocolate and marshmallow against the rigid crunch of graham crackers can get boring. And s’mores are meant to be fun! Whether it’s adding another salty ingredient to the mix or swapping out one of the three components for something unexpected, here are six ways you can reinvent a s’more to impress your friends and make s’more memories.

S’mOreos

If you are like me and don’t necessarily like camping, this recipe is perfect for an indoor weekend. Catering company Table & Thyme elevates their s’mores with double stuff Oreos, marshmallows, and, of course, the classic Hershey’s chocolate bar. After separating the tops of the Oreo cookies, arrange cream side up and place the chocolate followed by marshmallows. These chocolatey treats can be cooked in an oven on the broil setting until the chocolates are melted which is usually a minute or less. Lastly, complete your s’moreo with more Oreos on top.

S’more Cookies

S’more Cookies have been taking over the internet and for good reason. They combine the goodness from the s’mores with the buttery dough from a chocolate chip cookie. Start with your graham cracker base and add chocolate chips or a chocolate bar then top with the marshmallows. Now, for the cookie part, layer your s’mores with homemade or pre-made cookie dough. You want to mound the dough to cover the graham cracker and chill for 20 minutes before, finally, baking for 16 to 20 minutes.

Mini Pretzel S’mores

This is a fun one. Jessie Shehan, baker and three-time cookbook author, presents a new style of mini smores. Using mini pretzels, layer the marshmallows and place in the oven until melted. She then adds the Rolo chocolate candy and another pretzel to complete the s’more.

Strawberry S’mores

Adding a pop of color and some notes of tartness, this strawberry s’more recipe is just for you. Rae Lee, a registered dietician, makes the treat by cooking strawberries in a skillet lightly sprayed with avocado oil spray. When the strawberries start caramelizing at the five-minute mark, flip the fruit and continue cooking until soft. You can microwave or bake graham crackers and chocolate until golden or soft, then add the marshmallows for about ten to fifteen seconds. Lastly, add the strawberries and the final graham cracker.

Croissant S’more

Self-taught baker and content creator, @brightmomentco makes the classic s’mores except trades the graham cracker for croissants. She uses skewers to melt the marshmallows in a campfire and places the now toasted marshmallow on a croissant cut lengthwise. She squishes the croissant dessert sandwich until everything is melted and gooey. This is a surefire way to elevate your s’mores this summer.
