We all know how it works – you start making your favorite batch of cookies, and somewhere along the way you dip your finger into the bowl to give the dough a little taste. You realize how good it tastes, so you go in for another finger-ful, and the next thing you know, the bowl is half empty. Well, sh*t. Lucky for you, Cookie DŌ Confections in NYC has your back.
How It All Started
Owner Kristen, grew up in St. Louis, Missouri watching her mom cook for her family. After graduating from Easy Bake ovens, and a few extra cooking classes, Kirsten joined her mother in the kitchen, especially when it came to baking cookies. Of course, just like me, she found the best part of making cookies to be eating the cookie dough straight from the mixing bowl before even baking the cookies. Following design school, she moved to New York City and began working as a designer at a brand consultant firm. Baking quickly became her outlet. From there, she took a girls’ weekend trip to Philadelphia and visited a cookie shop, but bought a tub of frozen cookie dough to pass around instead of purchasing the baked cookies. Her inspiration to open an edible cookie dough business blossomed.
Safe, Edible, Raw Cookie Dough
So how exactly is it possible to consume raw cookie dough? Each and every ingredients is carefully chosen in order to provide a safe, delicious experience for the customer. How is that possible? For products typically containing eggs, DŌ uses pasteurized eggs, therefore eliminating the possibility of salmonella. All potential harmful bacteria is killed in a heat process. As for the flour side, DŌ uses a heat-treated, ready-to-eat flour that eliminates the risk of all flour-related food-borne illnesses. No worries, dig in.
The Flavors
Now on to the important stuff – the flavors. Their classic flavors include signature chocolate chip, sugar cookie topped with sugar sprinkles, brownie batter with chocolate chips, oatmeal m&m with chocolate chips, and commando (the plain option, for you boring people out there).
