Whenever I bake cookies at home, I try to eat just one spoonful of the cookie dough leftover at the bottom of the bowl. Despite my mother’s warnings that I could get salmonella from eating raw cookie dough, I did it anyway because what’s the fun in making cookies if you can’t eat the dough?

The answer to my prayers came when I discovered Cookie Dōfinally I could eat endless amounts of cookie dough with no regrets. This New York City based company, founded by foodie and cookie enthusiast Kristen Tomlan boasts the best cookie dough you will ever have. The best part? It’s completely edible and preservative-free, so you can enjoy raw cookie dough just the way you like it. There are a multitude of flavors offered, including the signature chocolate chip, oatmeal M&M, snickerdoodle, trail mix, cake batter, PB&J and many more. There are also gluten-free, vegan and grain-free options that are equally delicious.

This eggless dough is available for delivery right to your door (Disclaimer: delivery is quite expensive because the dough has to be shipped overnight to stay fresh…I was skeptical at first, but the dough was definitely worth the extra delivery fee). However, if you’re from New York City, you can skip the shipping fees and pick up the dough yourself at three different locations: Herald Square, 59/Lexington or Downtown Brooklyn.

This week, I decided to sample six different flavors to see what all the hype was about. Was eggless cookie dough actually as good as the real stuff?

After a thorough taste test, I can assure you, this cookie dough is the real deal. Each 8-oz. container makes roughly 6-8 cookies, but because the cookie dough is so irresistible, you’ll probably find yourself eating all of it before you can get around to baking any actual cookies. I sampled each of the following six flavors:

Signature Chocolate Chip:

This classic has the perfect texture—smooth and fluffy with just the right amount of chocolate chips. Perfect with a glass of milk.

Confetti:

This fabulous flavor adds pizzazz to the simple chocolate chip cookie dough with rainbow sprinkles and white chocolate chips—definitely the sexiest cookie dough you’ll ever eat.

Heavenly:

The name doesn’t lie. This divine sugar cookie dough has not only Nutella cookie dough swirls but also chocolate chips and salted caramel bites. Hands down, my favorite flavor of the six. Go grab a spoon. Now.

St. Patricks Day Cake Batter (Seasonal):

To get you in the St. Patricks Day mood, this enriched cake batter combines green and yellow sprinkles and both white and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Salty & Sweet:

There’s no better combination than sweet and salty. This classic sugar cookie dough is swirled together with caramel ribbons and topped with chocolate chips and sea salt.

Chocolate Dream:

This delightful dough is any chocolate-lover’s dream come true. Just imagine Oreos, chocolate chips, and double chocolate cookie dough…need I say more?

Whether you’re vegan or gluten-free, Cookie Dō has a flavor for you. Upon delivery, make sure to refrigerate immediately—the dough lasts up to three weeks, but it will be tough to keep it around that long. Now there’s nothing left to do but order your own edible cookie dough.
