The Dolly Llama is DTLA’s Newest Waffle Shop on the Block

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at USC chapter.

The newest ice cream-waffle concept shop just launched in DTLA. It features the hottest trend from Hong Kong street food, bubble waffles, and combines it with Mexican-inspired Horchata, Asian-inspired Green Tea, Bright Blue Cookie Monster, or another of their 8 ice cream flavors. The Dolly Llama is everything you want from an LA dessert shop: Instagram-worthy presentation, cool atmosphere, and an even cooler brand logo. The llama is wearing shades!

How to Order

First, you start with your choice of waffle; I chose the Bubble Waffle. It comes with your choice of 1 sauce, 2 toppings, and your choice of ice cream. Once you pick your ice cream and your sauce, the toppings is the hardest part because there’s so many options!

Even if you’re not an ice cream person or you want something less decadent, there’s a treat for you. They have cute customizable waffle sticks and OG Belgian street-style waffles

The Dolly Llama also offers customizable shakes from their unique ice cream menu or, if you can’t decide, choose one from their signature menu.

If you happen to stop by on a cold LA day, there’s 3 cocoas to warm you up: Hot-chata, Hot Vanilla, and classic Hot Chocolate. The Hot-chata caught my eye.

My Recommendations:

Bubble Waffle + Horchata Ice Cream + Condensed Milk + Cinnamon Toast Crunch + Kinder Bar + Toasted Marshmallow

Grab a friend and head to The Dolly Llama! After all, dessert is always better shared.

Being from Nola (home of good cooking and good times), food and festivals were a big part of my lifestyle and local culture.
