Seattle is the perfect vacation spot for when you need a little time to beat the heat, appreciate the outdoors, and eat some stellar, unique food.

In each area I visited, many tempting restaurants caught my eye. In short, they were all mouthwatering. In no particular order, here are the best sweet and savory eats in Seattle.

Sweet: Marionberry Yogurt at Ellenos

Located right in front of Pike Place Market, this greek yogurt venue is a must-try for anyone who has ever enjoyed yogurt in any form. Ellenos is the perfect place for anyone who wants a smooth, rich, and sweet treat.

With so many delicious options to choose from at Ellenos, it can be hard to decide. My personal favorite is Marionberry, which contains a unique berry flavor swirled into creamy greek yogurt. The two flavors certainly pack an ambrosial punch.

Sweet: Honey Lavendar Ice Cream at Molly Moon

Molly Moon has several locations in Seattle, each with its own delightful interior and even more delightful ice cream. The fun atmosphere makes eating their ice cream so much sweeter. Molly Moon has one-of-a-kind flavors for any palate, such as Honey Lavender and Maple Walnut.

Sweet: French Toast with Fresh Strawberries at Silence-Heart-Nest

Silence-Heart-Nest is a vegetarian restaurant located in the heart of Fremont, a hip and trendy Seattle neighborhood. Serving up delicious classics like french toast and homemade quiche, this place is sure to make you feel at home. If you're looking to explore new neighborhoods in Seattle, but still want that comforting feel of home, give Silence-Heart-Nest a try.

Sweet: Chocolate Chaud at Le Pichet

Le Pichet is an upscale French restaurant that serves up classic French entrees. However, their dessert is what truly steals the show. With Chocolat Chaud so thick that it must be eaten with a spoon, this decadent dessert is not to be missed.

Sweet: Lemon Curd and Ricotta Crumpet at The Crumpet Shop

The Crumpet Shop is an adorable restaurant located at the edge of Pike Place Market that whips up comforting crumpets.

Although crumpets come in both sweet and savory varieties, my personal favorite is the ricotta and lemon curd flavor, which perfectly complements with the spongy crumpet underneath.

Sweet: Apple Cinnamon Roll at Piroshky Piroshky

Piroshky Piroshky is a Russian bakery in Pike Place that has been featured on many food shows, often with a line of hungry customers waiting out the door. However, their pastries are worth the wait: every single one has been carefully thought out, lovingly crafted, and cherished by customers for years.

Sweet: Buckwheat Cereal at Chaco Canyon Organic Café

Chaco Canyon is a quaint café in the University District, and is the perfect place to grab breakfast or lunch after a walk around the University of Washington.

With both vegan and gluten-free options, this café focuses on sustainability within its community. It has an all-day breakfast menu and wide variety of lunch options that are both comforting and exciting.

Savory: Chicken Pesto Sandwich at Homegrown

Homegrown is another sustainable restaurant that dishes out killer sandwiches. The restaurant spins creative twists on classic sandwiches, with menu options such as TLT (tofu, lettuce, and tomato) and Chicken Curry Pecan.

Savory: Any Mezze at Mamnoon

Mamnoon serves up delicious Lebanese and Syrian food guaranteed to please any fan of Middle Eastern cuisine. Their mezzes, or small plates, feature spreads such as hummus, baba ghanoush, and muhammara. This is the perfect place to eat at whether you're just ordering an appetizer or having an entire meal.

Savory: Sashimi at Japonessa

Being by the ocean, Seattle's restaurants have access to the freshest fish of all varieties that the Pacific Ocean has to offer. Japonessa takes advantage of this, serving up creative sushi dishes, as well as classics such as sashimi and nigiri.

I can honestly say that the freshness of their fish beats that of most restaurants I've been to, and I'm waiting for the day when I can come back for more culinary works of art.

Savory: Chop Salad at Belltown Pizza

Belltown Pizza is a cozy neighborhood pizza joint tucked in the Belltown neighborhood. However, pizza is only just one of their specialties; they also serve hearty salads for those seeking healthier options.

Savory: Paella at Terra Plata

chicken, rice, shrimp

Located on the edge of the Capitol Hill neighborhood, Terra Plata has an "earth-to-plate" concept that's shown in every dish they prepare.

On Tuesday evenings, in addition to their regular menu, the restaurant serves paella with fresh seafood of all manners mixed together in a delicious and savory blend.

This is just a small taste of the many wonderful restaurants thriving in Seattle. Whether you're in the mood for sweet or savory in Seattle, this vibrant city has more than enough to satisfy both desires.
