Gainesville's Newest Chicken Chain: Huey Magoo's
Fast food is a staple for most college kids. It’s easy to get, cheaper than most foods, and can be pretty yummy if you know where to go. However, there are only so many times you can order the same food from the same fast food locations. This is where Huey Magoo’s comes in. Huey Magoo’s is an affordable, delicious fast-food restaurant with a large menu. It’s also a fast food chain unfamiliar to most UF students from outside the Orlando area. In August of this year, Gainesville opened its first Huey Magoo’s right next to campus, and it’s a must-try.
Menu
Huey Magoo’s is known for their fried chicken and it does not disappoint. The tenders are juicy and seasoned impeccably. If you’re a sauce person, you can have your tenders tossed in buffalo sauce, lemon pepper sauce, garlic parmesan sauce, or a sweet heat sauce. Displayed in the photo are the tenders with buffalo sauce. The tangy sauce was a perfect compliment to the rich, juicy chicken, so I highly recommend you order your tenders tossed in sauce. Tenders can be ordered with 3 pieces, 5 pieces, or 7 pieces, and the tenders meal comes with buttery texas toast, crispy crinkle-cut fries, and Magoo's dip.
Although their tenders are fantastic, Huey Magoo’s is much more than just tenders. They also have chicken sandwiches, wraps, and salads made with their famous chicken. Still craving a little something after all that savory chicken? Finish your meal with one of their decadent, gooey cookies in flavors like chocolate chunk, peanut butter, white chocolate macadamia nut, and more.

In terms of price, Huey Magoo’s is slightly more expensive than other fast food places, except for the most popular chicken spot on campus: Chick-fil-A. For the 3 sauced tenders meal, Magoo's costs $7.59 with their salads, sandwiches, and wraps around the same price. Compared with Chick-fil-A, which is a few doors down, Huey Magoo’s is slightly more affordable. The same three-piece meal at Chick-fil-A costs over a dollar more at $8.79, with their sandwiches and salads costing a similar price. If fried chicken is one of your go-to's, it’s worth it to save a dollar for food that is just as good if not better.
Huey Magoo’s prides itself on their quality of chicken, which separates them from the crowd. This is truly evident with their slogan “the filet mignon of chicken.” Their chicken is made with the best 3% of chicken because Huey Magoo’s realizes how important the quality of ingredients is when making a dish.
