As one of the best restaurants in Auburn, Alabama, Amsterdam Cafe has a reputation to live up to. If you liked this place before, which many of you did, you have got to give it a try now. Their new and improved menu will rock your world. You can't go wrong with anything, but I highly recommend the Tuna Lettuce Wraps. Delicious.
1. Hot Chicken Sandwich
If you're trying to spice up your life a bit, this new sandwich addition is fire. Literally. Fried chicken smothered in house made hot sauce, buttermilk ranch, and served with bibb lettuce and sweet pickles makes for a great handheld.
2. Pepper Crusted Tuna
Fresh tuna served with fried rice and a scallion chili sauce. Perfect if you want a fresh fix. The chili sauce adds just the perfect amount of kick. The tuna is served with fried rice and collard greens, which is the best combination.
3. Shrimp & Grits
If you're in the mood for some good southern food, shrimp and grits is the way to go. Straight from the gulf, this shrimp is paired with yellow grits and then smothered in a yummy tasso cream sauce. Y'all can never go wrong with some shrimp n' grits!
4. "From the Grill"
This entirely new section is for sure going to leave you stuffed. First, you choose your protein which can either be a fat juicy steak, or something a bit lighter like swordfish or salmon. Next, you'll choose a sauce to go with your meal. Last but not least, you will pick two sides, and I highly recommend the parmesan fries. This is what you want to order when you have been saving all your calories for one meal.
5. Tuna Lettuce Wraps
These lettuce wraps are one of my favorite new dishes on the menu. Topped with tuna, avocado, carrot, cilantro, and scallions, this fresh dinner is not going to disappoint. But let's not forget the sweet chili sauce which adds just the perfect amount of flavor. These make a great entree if you are in the mood for something light, but still tasty.
All of these dishes are fabulous. Amsterdam Cafe also serves a great brunch, delicious cocktails, and all the food they serve is fresh. I have never had a bad meal at this place, which is why I consider it one of the best restaurants in Auburn. I'll even let you in on a secret, you can ask for rolls and they will bring out some melt in your mouth rolls to tide you over until your meal comes out!
