In the same way that fast food chains like Buffalo Wild Wings and Popeyes offered free items for speculated outcomes during the Super Bowl, Shake Shack is doing something similar for the 96th Annual Academy Awards. Award shows like the Oscars are known to go for longer than expected. The chain predicted a runtime of three hours and 31 minutes, which was calculated by the marketing agency Known. According to the announcement, if the award show went over that time, Shake Shack would offer free Chicken Shacks, and if it went under that time, free SmokeShacks — both with a $10 minimum purchase.
This year’s Oscars was just under three hours and a half so, for a week, Shake Shack will be offering free SmokeShacks.

Before breaking down the lengthy terms and conditions, let’s get into Shake Shack’s SmokeShack. The now free item is an Angus beef cheeseburger with applewood-smoked bacon, chopped cherry peppers, and ShackSauce — all on a toasted potato bun.
The promo is limited to one cheeseburger per order and is valid until Monday, March 18. It only qualifies for orders with a minimum of $10 placed at a kiosk in-store, in-app, or on its website using the code BIGWINS. The SmokeShack will not automatically appear in your cart so remember to add it with your items to redeem the code.
The SmokeShack is free as is, meaning the offer excludes all paid add-ons such as avocado and bacon.
This offer also excludes Shake Shacks located in airports, stadiums, arenas, travel plazas, and museums as well as third-party delivery apps (i.e. Grubhub, UberEats, Postmates, etc.).
