There is only one thing better than spending the day on the couch watching Harry Potter, and that is spending the day on the couch watching Harry Potter with a few pints of Ben and Jerry’s.
Each Harry Potter character is a different flavor in its own, so we picked some of the series’ most beloved and paired them up with some of Ben and Jerry’s most popular picks.
So if you’re willing to spend 20 hours watching all eight movies and consume mass amounts of ice cream, then sit down on the couch in your Hogwarts robe because we know you have one, grab some more movie snacks, and get ready for a completely magical event.
Harry – That’s My Jam™ Core
When Ben and Jerry’s released their cookie core flavors in 2014, they became the ultimate heroes. After battling Voldemort and Death Eaters galore for seven years, Harry Potter is also the ultimate hero.
The That’s My Jam™ Core is a thick combination of chocolate and vanilla ice creams with fudge chips, plus a stream of raspberry jam down the center. The jam is a nostalgic reminder of childhood and peanut butter and jelly days, just like the entire Harry Potter series.
Like Harry, the ice cream is tough on the outside because soft serve just can’t be a hero. Still, he’s sweet on the inside just like the raspberry core, and the bright crimson is definitely an ode to Gryffindor.
Ron – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Chocolate chip cookie dough consistently ranks among the most popular ice cream flavors in America, including finding itself as number four on Ben and Jerry’s 2015 list. Ron Weasley, to many Harry Potter fans, is so much better than the Harry himself, making him a popular choice for the series’ favorite character.
You can never go wrong with a few scoops of chocolate chip cookie dough because any chance to eat raw cookie dough is something you should never pass up. It’s a safe choice just like cautious Ron, but it’s still oh-so lovable.
Hermione – Chocolate Peppermint Crunch
Hermione is the badass character of Harry Potter, combining her intellect and biting wit to get the best of even the vilest villain. She’s still delicate, but when she’s provoked, can turn on the sass and fight.
Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Peppermint Crunch is demure like Hermione’s smarts, but also spicy like her attitude. The flavor is packed with everything from fudge and peppermint swirls to mint cookie balls, so your taste buds can get all that they’ve ever wanted.
Dumbledore – Bourbon Pecan Pie
Dumbledore is an aged wizard, and if you know your bourbon, you know the good stuff has to age for at least a couple years.
Elderly people also love pecans and pie, so when you throw that into the buttery ice cream, Dumbledore would probably be more overjoyed to eat the whole pint over an earwax-flavored Bertie Bott.
The flavor might be available in Texas only, which is a far trip from Hogwarts, so why not try out a butterbeer recipe to hold yourself over.
Fred & George – Everything But The…®
Fred and George are full of surprises, like giving Harry the Marauder’s Map or opening their own joke shop after graduating. The twins were always a whirlwind of antics, whether or not anyone around them was amused by it or not.
Everything But The…® is described as a “collision” of pretty much everything but the kitchen sink. The flavor has a few tricks up its sleeve with toffee, white chocolate, and almonds, in addition to the two ice cream flavors and peanut butter cups mixed together.
If you want to take an inside-out approach to the flavor, make peanut butter cups topped with every sweet and salty morsel – besides the kitchen sink, of course.
Sirius – Devil’s Food Chocolate
The Order of the Phoenix film came out in 2007, so any spoiler of Sirius Black dying at the hands of Bellatrix isn’t really a spoiler anymore. Devil’s Food Chocolate also faced a similar fate, finding itself in Ben and Jerry’s famed Flavor Graveyard back in 2001.
Everyone believed Sirius was a villain, selling out Harry’s parents to Voldemort, when in reality he was on Harry’s side all along. Devil’s Food Chocolate sounds like it would have been pretty evil, but it was just an indulgent combination of two chocolate sorbets.
RIP to Devil’s Food Chocolate, but long live its counterpart, Angel Food Cake.
Hagrid – Brewed to Matter™
The beloved groundskeeper Hagrid is always ready to lend a hand to Harry, Ron, and Hermione, so staying caffeinated is a must.
Ben and Jerry’s Brewed to Matter™ flavor is a roasted coffee ice cream with fudge and brownie chunks, so it’s kind of messy, but so is Hagrid. He’d probably get some of the brownie in his beard or share it with Fang, Buckbeak, or his former dragon Norbert.
Luna – Chubby Hubby®
From her first appearance in The Goblet of Fire, Luna was definitely odd, but her membership in Ravenclaw means that she’s definitely sharper than her peers believe.
Her nickname, “Loony Lovegood” is pretty fitting, but the word “loony” could also describe Ben and Jerry’s Chubby Hubby® in all of its stuffed-to-the-max glory.
A scoop of the malted vanilla is packed with peanuts, chocolate-covered pretzels, and swirled around fudge and peanut butter swirls. Pretty nutty, just like Miss Lovegood.
Neville – Hazed and Confused™ Core
Neville is the soft-spoken, forgetful one of the Gryffindor bunch, so even his Remembrall can’t help his memory. In the end, he ends up saving Hogwarts, making every underdog find a little more hope in life.
Compared to Core flavors like Brownie Batter and Spectacular Speculoos™, Hazed and Confused™ might be a little under-appreciated, even though hazelnut is still the best ever. The name of flavor describes Neville perfectly, and in the end, it definitely surprises us with its chocolate-hazelnut dual action.
Snape – Half Baked®
There’s still so much debate over whether or not Snape was a good guy or not, leaving him a little half baked. Still, he remains one of the books’ most beloved characters, even after how he treated Harry throughout the years.
Half Baked® has unseated Cherry Garcia® as Ben and Jerry’s most popular flavor, and all of its “gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough” could turn the worst of villains into a good guy. The flavor combination would definitely make the Potions professor proud, especially when you throw together two ice creams, the cookie dough, and brownies.
