I live in an ingredient house. This means that my usual process for making meals starts by taking a mental inventory of what’s in the fridge and pantry and then figuring out what kinds of recipes I can make with the ingredients I have. Now, I do love to cook and get creative with my meals. However, on busy days, it can get to be a rather tiresome chore. So, I decided to ask ChatGPT to suggest a breakfast recipe for me. I listed out all the ingredients I had in the kitchen and asked it to create an easy and nutritious breakfast recipe for me.
Now, I have to be honest. ChatGPT threw the most unhinged recipe at me on the first try.
I don’t know about you, but I would not have been able to stomach a smoothie bowl (made out of raw oats) topped with broccoli, cheese, and chocolate. It reminded me of the YouTube Smoothie Challenge drinks, which would have the most atrocious ingredients.
Since I wasn’t feeling the cheesy smoothie, I asked ChatGPT to regenerate another response with the exact same prompt. This time, I was pleasantly surprised by the response. A Peanut Butter and Berry Oatmeal Bowl sounded delicious and nutritious.
I followed the instructions exactly as stated. I started off by cooking the oatmeal in milk and adding the frozen berries, peanut butter, and some chocolate chips. Then, I topped the bowl with hazelnuts and fresh sliced strawberries.
As someone who only likes to eat overnight oats, I found this oatmeal recipe to be exceptional and would gladly make it again in the future.
Even though we got off to a rocky start, ChatGPT did deliver a quick and nutritious breakfast recipe. I can see myself using it to try out more recipes and even get some help with meal planning. It takes away the burden of coming up with a meal when you aren’t in the mood to get creative.
