The live-action remake of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas was made 17 years ago and has been a classic ever since. Even though it's technically a children's movie, one of the few perks of getting older is that you can still enjoy classics from your childhood, but with a bit of a twist.

Even though the Grinch doesn't follow the rules of Whoville, you should follow these rules, even if you need to swap out for water every now and then. So, make yourself a holiday drink, press play, and get ready to take a few swigs.

Take 1 drink when:

... words "Whoville" and "Christmas" are repeated.

... the Grinch talks to himself.

... the Grinch has a creepy smile.

Take 2 drinks when:

... someone references being scared and the Grinch.

... the Grinch talks to Max.

... the Grinch has flashbacks from when he was little.

Take 3 drinks when:

... the Whos reference "The Book of Who."

... the song, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" comes on.

... Cindy Lou's dad explains the true meaning of Christmas.

Take 4 drinks when:

... the Grinch says, "Hate, hate, hate. Hate, hate, hate. Double hate. Loathe completely!"

... the Grinch cannot decide what to wear to the Whobilation.

... the Mayor kisses Max's butt.

... the Grinch's small heart grows three sizes.

... the Grinch saves Cindy Lou from falling off a mountain.

Finish your drink when:

... the Grinch steals Christmas.

Next time you're having a night in with some friends or need a way to pre for a Christmas party, try getting tipsy with the Grinch. You won't be sorry. Have a safe Christmas everyone.
